have a word document saved, open it twice today made some changes but when I come to save it I get the 'Save as' window asking as if its a new document. The file name is already there, when I click save I get a error message saying,'Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error' and I have to remane it to save. :dunno:

That could be caused by a number of things but it might clear itself if you reboot. It could also be that the O.S. thinks it's a document already in use or it might be that the original file has become corrupted. Try a reboot and if that fails try deleting the original assuming you have a good copy first.

One thing which causes this problem ( with quite a few programs not just word ) is if you have more than one copy of the document open.

Not saying thats whats happening here but it does cause the permissions error, I know as I've done it myself
