Well as the title mentions, which action multiplayer games are you gonna pick up the coming days/months ?

As the huge Alien  (original franchise) fan I am, I'm gonna pick up AvP 3 and if released Aliens: Colonial Marines  ;D.
Playing marine campaign in the AvP 2 game was really scary when it came out. Colonial marines is stripping away everything with AvP series except the marine side, to make it a really good experience.

But, since that game has no definite release date I will have to go with AvP 3 for the moment, interspecies multiplayer is gonna kick butt  :thumb:

I've tried the MAG beta and it was okay, it was limited to 64 people, so I did not get the full 256 player experience, which can change my opinion for this game.

Played the Lost Planet 2 COOP beta with a friend and it was really good. Just waiting for reviews on this one.

And to what game is possible (likely) replacing MW2, Bad Company 2. This game has had some good videos up on the net, but since I have not personally played anything from this game I can't say that much. But trailer looks good tho

And lastly on my list for multiplayer games is, Bioshock 2 (story is probably excellent tho), they are introducing a multiplayer component for the second installment of this franchise. How will pan out?  we will know next month.

So vote people, for which one/ones you are going to pick up and why. And if your not picking up anything from the list I made, then what are you picking up and why? Hype up your choice and make me and others interested in that game  :thumb:

And for those of you who do not know what I am talking about  :dunno:, here are some videos  :):

Then Rik, you are missing out on some good entertainment  ;)

Rik

I've never been a gamer, despite having written one for Acorn in 1984. I guess I'm too interested in photography to devote the time to it. :)

Not a console fan but I will be picking up BFBC2 for the PC. Me and my clan are hoping it will come to the rescue in wake of the complete and utter disaster that is MW2.

Yea, MW2 really dropped the ball with akimbo 1887 with a effective killrange of 50 meters (one shot kill)

Bad company 2, seems (from the videos) to be better then MW2, but its hard to tell beforehand how it is going to be.
Console is great for third person game IMO, like the stickcontroller. Also the PS3 is a good media center with its Blu ray and streaming capabilities  :thumb:

Rik, what type of game did you write for the acorn? Was it your idea or were you the programmer? Was it published? When do you think we might see an Xbox port?  ;)
Steve

Rik

It was a variant on the Lisa program, Steve, which had two characters in it who could be personalised to produce different types of conversation, you could create more than two, but only two could be active. I was just the programmer, it was thought up by a guy from the OU, and it was called Talkback. There's no chance of it being ported I don't think, apart from anything else, we had to slow it down to run on the Beeb. ;D

I've got a copy somewhere, and I did convert it to run on a 286, but I've long since lost that version. :)

Someone mentioned Bioshock 2 earlier in the thread, well it's on this weekends special offer on steam. Pre-order for £26.99 for anyone who prefers steam to disks.

Yea, I am no steam user (don't like the setup they are running). I like to have the physical disc of whatever movie or game I purchase, i case of harddrive failures and such.

And by the way, do anybody see the poll options or ? Cause nobody has been voting, and I'm wondering if there is a glitch of some sort hehehehe

I am not a console fan either, I prefer the PC as it is far superior on a high spec system and I have several FPS games for the PC on order with Amazon awaiting release.

Crysis 2
Max Payne 3
Metro 2033
Medal of Honor (but that is not due until October.

No glitch, just the sound of creaking bones.  ;D

Hehehehe, yea might be that.

Yea, I'm quite the opposite. I like to use my PC for strategy games, and my PS3 for everything else  :). I used to be a PC only kinda guy, but to keep updating my rig just so the latest game would flow perfectly took a toll on my wallet, so I picked up the PS3, just to try it out and it turned out great.

Yea, the games are abit more expensive on the console, but it all balances out when I don't need to keep my rig top notch. Tho, a occasional upgrade here and there does happen ( I do like building my rigs  :))

I signed in for the early PC beta of Battlefield Bad Company 2 with play.com (£26.99). Should be getting access tomorrow and I am raaaaather excited. This will be my first battlefield game and it looks extremely good from the gameplay videos I have seen so far.

I'll post back with first impressions as soon as I obtain them  :)

The first game I played on a Playstation 1 was 3D Lemmings.

I had completed all the lemmings on pc so it was great doing the 3D version on the Playstation.

Yea, the lemmings games could be addictive   :), "....Have to save them all............", but I never heard of the 3D version until now  :thumb:

This would be your first Battlefield game,..............you should really try out Battlefield 2 our if you can get your hands on Battlefield 1942 (original). These games were so great, until (as usual) the cheaters started clogging up the servers. I hope Bad company 2 will live up to those previous games (weren't a fan of battlefield 2142 i think it was?)

But no new battlefield games intro can beat the original, that intro got me all pumped up before every game  :)

I'm surprised you've never heard of it.  It was one of the first games for playstation 1.

I remember playing The Lemmings on our old AMIGA when I was about 6 years old....

On BC2, I'm not really a fan of the older BF games of past because of the morons who dolphin dive to throw C4 across the map, jump about 30ft in the air and generally exploit every tiny flaw in that AWFUL engine of Dice. I watched my friend play in god-knows-what level tourneys and they never seemed to do anything I would imagine the designers had in mind, they were all just exploiting this junk engine. Anyway this new game is an entirely new engine rewritten from BC1 (frostbite) and, unfortunately, holds the survival of competitive FPS gaming for the PC in it's hands after MW2 flopped, so it had better be bloody good.

I used to play Hidden and Dangerous 2 instead, then moved on to warcraft3's DotA.

Yeh but I got stuck on one level about 50 minutes in. I can still remember it. It was like a solid grey block you couldn't dig through with arrows in it that pointed towards the entrance. Probably dead easy but I was only iccle lol.

Yea, no i missed the lemmings 3D but jumped onto the worms train instead  ; )

The original battlefields were great at start, but then turned into what it is today, I still remember being shoot by my own team if I took the plane before someone else, really frustrating, but I loved the Kampala of capturing locations and holding these during the ticket counter.

I tried the hidden dangerous franchise, and it was okay, but I didn't fell ether way about the games.

This months purchase I can safely say is gonna be Alien vs Predator 3 for me, ohhh.....cant wait for the mixed species multiplayer and alien survival mode (aka nazi zombies from COD: World at War)   8-)
