XBOX Live - 2700HGV any issues ??

Any one know if the 2700HGV works OK with the XBOX ??

I bought a 360 earlier this month, installed it an connected via ethernet.
Everything seems OK... Downloaded upgrades and played games online..

Today tried to play Modern Warcraft 2 which advise we needed to upgrade to play online.
Click 'Yes I want to update' and then it looks like it's starting, then fails..

" Can not download update " advised to test xbox live connection in network settings.

Testing works fine !!

I've set the xbox in the routers DMZ this hasn't helped...

any ideas ??

Are you logged into xbox live prior to update?

Yes !

Although I do get a message advising not all live services are available..
Network test passes fine.

The xbox has no access restrictions and no content control.. yet I noticed entries in the logs of IAC blocking microsoft / live sites..

I decided to reset the local network list, enable DHCP and let the xbox get it's settings from the 2700HGV.

Once it go a dynamic IP address, I changed the xbox to static using the same IP address it had just been allocated
( removing it from the dhcp pool )

I then ensured no content control and no access restrictions...

One reboot of the xbox later and it's all working !!

ive found that at times that the xbox doesnt like to be hooked up to my network its a right pain in the backside

I've always found my old xbox and the xbox 360 works better when it's allocated an ip address on the network manually. dunno why, but that's how it's always worked best for me, and that's on 2 different routers too.

In my experience 2700's sometimes dont seem to recognise devices that are connected with static ip's. The 2700 seems to like to allocate the IP. In reality there's usually no need to use a static ip with a 2700. Normally you need a static IP to do any port forwarding , but the 2700 forwards using a device name ( actually uses MAC I think ) and can do it just fine with a dynamic IP. If you really want a static then the 2700 has the ability to allocate a 'fixed' IP to a device. That's much better than giving the device a static, since the 2700 is still allocating the IP and it seems to work better if you let it do that.
