I think this will make the combined organisation a formidable competitor for both iDNet and Zen.

Wouldn't have thought so.  It is interesting that although they cover different markets - Timico primarily busines and NewNet consumer - the two companies appear to have a similar ethos. 

If this does presage another round of consolidation in the industry, it might make those at iDNet towers begin to wonder.  Maybe an earlier takeover/merger with a like minded company - even say NewNet/Timico - would be better than suffering serious competitive damage and be faced with a forced sale to a buyer like TalkTalk.
