Rather than post code on the public forums, you have a PM.  ;)

Have had a closer look at this site and have to say it does offer some extremely useful advice. So much so I have followed some of the advice given and increased my download speed by .5 Mb from 6.5 to 7.0 plus.

The increase was achieved by simply following a few simple instructions. Definitely worth a look!  I learned that it is not only down to your ISP service to achieve a better speed but 'sharpening' up your PC can make a difference.

Steve

Can you enlighten us further Q?

I would rather not as changes to PC settings are very personal and work for some and not for others. I think the advice offers tried and tested remedies but as I say, actions taken are a personal decision, however, it has worked for me.

Possibly it would help if it was labled 'register' or the like? I wasn't looking to enter a forum at this stage. :dunno:

quandam

Found it! :thumb: Registered ;) Thanks Steve.

quandam

Just taken the speed test here.

Haven't managed this speed for around 9 months or so.

Looking good ,I think for anyone running XP optimising RWIN and MTU are worth a shot, at least since Vista the optimisation is now done automatically

It can also help to make sure that the Vista settings are correct. Only yesterday we had a case where they were incorrect. :)

Steve

If Vista autotunes each interface that uses TCP/IP won't "fixing" one break the others?

:) Depends how you do it Steve. The tweaks are not adaptor tweaks but OS tweaks.

Well I have just run it on my Windows 7 64-bit system and I had to change 3 of the parameters (Chimney Offload State-enabled, Congestion Provider-ctcp, ECN Provider-enabled) and it has given me a definite speed improvement from around 6.5/6.8Mb/s to 7Mb/s.
