what do you use to play CDs and dvds

have tried loads over the years and ended up sticking with media player but feel like a change now.Dont use dvds a lot but have Powerdvd for that, came with a drive I bought I think.

yeah its good for that but I dont have one.My son has one in his room and,along with a good tv its great for blu rays.

have tried quite a few cant remember them all, Winamp of course, Jetaudio which was quite good actually but had a 'different' way of organising its library which I couldnt get used to.others which I dont recall

I've recently been using VLC Media Player, seems to work okay and plays most formats. I've not done a comparison with others though.

VLC is my choice too, can't remember the last time it refused to play a file and it has lots of other goodies built in too.

Personally, as a registered user of DivX I use the DivX player for DivX movies. For others, I either use WMP, or for a quick on the fly preview, the built in player with Dopus 9 (Windows explorer replacement).

For music, I've stuck with WinAMP for years, and still love it.

I use that too, as it contains the codecs so you don't need to install any. Although I also install the CCCP codec pack, which is good. Additionally I used media player classic.

I use three media players

Windows Media Player 11 (mainly for streaming to Xbox)
VLC - for obscure filetypes i.e .flv .ac3
Media Player Classic with QuickAlternative for .mov

Seem to get by using those.

still looking at this. already have VLC which I may stick with but saw this audio player ages ago when my son got it.it is audio only but is open source and if you like tweaking stuff take a look

foobar  you can set it up exactly how you want basically. if you dont want play lists take them off,if you want track info add it in.you can actually change or make your own layout of the UI. its very good.

will post more links later when I get some more from my son.he has some tutorials on it some where

I've been playing with VLC but I hate the user interface, and for music I'll probably go back to WinAMP.

For video I normally use Media Player, or Media Player Classic if the former can't grok the format.
