Opera for iPhone

Its claimed that a mini version of Opera runs six times faster than Safari. I wonder will Apple permit it to be added to the App Store.

If Apple don't allow it to be added to the app store I hope that whichever government department deals with competition laws goes after them in the same way they did with Microsoft over IE.

In the past few months I have seen a couple of PC's running Safari where the user has no recollection of having installed it - turns out that they are iTunes users and Safari was offered as an 'upgrade' or something like that. And people say Microsoft are bad!

(Microsoft are bad, not denying that - but others are as bad if not worse!)

I agree, that shouldn't happen, and I always thought that when it appeared in the updater.

I've just installed itunes and I don't remember it asking me to install Safari, and it's not on my system. I'd be very surprised if Opera runs 6 times faster than Safari on the iphone too, as mine is instant. Unless it opens before I press the button, I don't think you can get faster than that

I might try this though as I seem to remember the way Opera works, is something similar to your general iphone app, which didn't work at all well for me on the PC.
