I very seldom post on the forum but I think that this might be of interst to some of you.

The local exchange in my neck of the woods is showing Talk Talk as an LLU. Consequently, they have have been having a bit of a "blitz" on trying to get people to join them. This morning I received a letter from them offering the usual savings etc... but the killer opening gambit was "Since your Internet Service Provider is now part of the Talk Talk Group". I was wondering ...........

In my experience TalkTalk sales people will say pretty much anything to get you to 'sign on the dotted line' and lock you into a contract

It's all lies.
I got a Virgin letter saying I could now get *up to 100mb fibre optic broadband. I really really went over it with a fine tooth comb. It said nothing about weather cable or whatever was available (it is not AFAIK) and they were very clever with their wording. No where on the letter did they promise the speed or connection type. So I could have been thrown back into the dark ages if I was foolish enough to accept it. As BT are the only ones plugged into the Exchange, I would have probably got the same offering as O2 Access and Sky Home.

(Oh, and it's a long tradition for sales people to con you with the opening line "we are from your CURRENT provider SKY/O2/Virgin/BT/Eon/Powergen/British Gas ect, all when they are NOT!)

I've had those cards through the door a while ago. This was when they were still Blueyonder, and also after Virgin bought them. I was quite impressed as there is no cable in Wrexham. I even emailed them to ask why they were posting these cards as it was clearly a waste of their money, which they didn't reply to but they did tell me there were no plans to unroll cable around this area. Strange really as that hole St Helens has cable, and we're pretty much the same size.
