i noticed in one of recent threads a link to plusnet's exchange status check so i thought have a look for mine and the virtual path status is red and seems to have been every week for the recent history it shows.

would this potentially cause any problems for my connection or ping in any way or is the virtual path status nothing to worry about?

added a pic to show what the reading said.

Are you noticing any slow downs or slow pings? These VP reports are often out of date, BT are not terribly forthcoming about them. If you feel your speeds are being affected, let support know.

internet speeds are always fine, my max speed capable is about 6.9mb and most of the time it around 6.4-6.8mb, i think the worst i ever had once was bout 5.6mb on bt speedtest which is great still.

on ping subject its hard to tell with that one cos im an xbox360 gamer theres no readings so if it a bad game connection-wise you only have a little 5 box bar next to your name which rises and falls based on ping but bad pings can be due to a cr*p host of a match or cr*p game servers.

dont get me wrong, again vast majority of the time i have no ping issues, i just pinged bbc.co.uk and got 31 lowest 33 highest which is the best ive had ,normally bout 38 but i dont do regular tests so i cant compare results.

idnet rocks though  :thumb:

It could mean that the VP your on is not one of the congested ones at your exchange.

is the virtual path my sole connection to the exchange or does it operate certain amount of connections?

Steve

Its after you've connected to the exchange and there's no logic I  think as to how you are allocated to a particular VP ,your next door neighbour could for instance be on a completely different one.

just one more thing, do you always stay on the same virtual path or does it change each time the router is turned on and connects?

Steve

Your always on the same one unless its manually shifted at the exchange.

Steve

The packages which have traffic priority at the exchange seem relatively immune to hot VPs as well
