If you get a popup asking you to hit F1 on your 'old' windows OS, DON'T do it. Vista and 7 users are not affected

Thanks, Glenn, glad I'm using Window 7. :thumb:

Likewise  ;D

Had Vista 64bit previously which made me wish I could go back to Windows ME  :bawl: :bawl: Didn't need malware to ruin your machine ,Vista did that all by itself.

Rik

Thanks, Glenn, I'd better warn Sue. :)

It's everyone else's fault when it comes to MS, isn't it.  :shake:

Nothing wrong with Vista 64bit. I've been using it for a long time now and the only problem I've come across is 5.1 sound. I've just reverted back to speakers on my main PC and I can't get 5.1 working. No idea why as all parties claim it now works

Typical, everyone says they're not to blame and leave the consumer to try and make things happen.

I think my problem stems from having logitech surround sound speakers and the creative X-fi sound card. Under XP the speakers worked, but under Vista they don't. Creative realeased a program that supposedly allowed 5.1 but even with that it doesn't work. I suppose it's possible I've done something wrong, but I can't see how as setting your system to 5.1 is as simple as it comes!

Have you tried any other settings?

Yeah, and it used to be the case that the sound test in vista itself didn't work but people were posting that the 5.1 did actually work in other things. I've been fiddling around with it in the last week and nothing seems to make a difference. I've just downloaded some drivers to try, but I think they're the same even though the release number is older that the ones I have installed. The driver date on my system is in 2008 but the ones on the site seem to have an older revision number but have been posted at a later date :D

Fun fun.

thats because they probably STOLE the Code from someone else while it was still in beta testing

:dunno:

I fixed it!

It turns out when I installed the drivers last week, for whatever reason it didn't install properly. When I downloaded them again just now it installed an autoupdater program too, which detected 208mb of files needed! Now everything works perfectly :)

So in this case it was the joys of Creative, once again!

Technical Ben

Don't press buttons popups tell you to press.
If I was just slightly dishonest I'd be a millionaire. I'd just have a popup that said "pay me a pound". And go to everyone door and on the street. At a hit rate of just one in a thousand I'd soon be rich.

But being honest I tell people to really think, and check what they click and who they give money out to first.
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Rik

I hope you give them my address then, Ben. ;)
