The wifi version of the iPad is due for release on the 26th March with the 3g version following 30 days later. I suspect I'll be giving it a miss.

People seem to think it will be the e reader of choice which puzzles me, I thought the battery life would squash that idea.

It will fall out of the hole in the pocket its made though. Back to the battery life the kindle will last about a week without re charge the ipad 10 hours.

Apple users are used to daily re-charging I guess.

I get about a day and a half from mine. It's the only real problem with the iPhone but fortunately you can find plug sockets or USB sockets just about anywhere these days!

I get the same as Lance maybe longer, I have 3G and push turned off. The ipad is not going to be entering my household, even though sitting with it on the sofa would be good, more comfy than a netbook its just to limited, requires yet another 3G data plan (no 3G where I live) or uses my wifi...tbh for the little browsing I do away from the Mac, the PS3 or the iPhone do me well enough, or Justina's Laptop, although the iPad would make a great iPhone for giants I guess.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't
