Opera 10.50 for Windows is now released. Head over to http://www.opera.com/download to get your hands on it now.

Final editions for UNIX and Mac users are still being developed but the developers are making good progress.

Plenty of choice for quick browsers these days, why MS can't produce one doesn't make sense to me :thumb:

Maybe it's their tie-up with Intel?

And it is fabulous  ;D

But it still doesn't open all the pages of timesonline.co.uk , unlike IE8 and Firefox.

An example

dudwell

Oops! It just opened my example. It didn't a moment ago!!

Rik

That kind of thing usually happens to me. ;)

Opera is still liable to throw up "Error Page". Sometimes a second attempt works, sometimes not. I'll risk another example :fingers::-

Trying again

The turbo option can be a bit odd sometimes, I've had the Idnetters wap page showing sometimes.

Rik

Why on earth would it do that? To simply speed the display?

Steve

I am not sure but with the turbo option on the request is directed to the Opera servers, its not a consistent response but I've seen on a couple of occassions

So, presumably, variable caching by them?

I don't understand it as the address is different. I do wish it would run on the iPhone, I'd love to try it :fingers:

Do you think Apple would ever allow it?

I still can't get on with Opera, Dorset, I don't know why, but it just never felt right for me.

That's exactly how I feel about Firefox, I know it's a good browser but somehow I've never clicked with it so have always stuck with IE/Opera instead.

On a different note, I wonder how people will get on with all the new browsers Microsoft is having to offer us as a part of the EU case - 12 of them including some lesser know ones (Sleipnir or K-meleon anybody?) although apparently that's not enough choiuce as according to this  article more than 1/2 of them are based on the same rendering engine as IE apparently. What's the odds that people will end up with more spam, more viruses and claim that it is all Microsoft's fault.

Rik

Pretty good, I'd say, Inky. It's funny how browsers are such personal things though, isn't it.

It's great fun trying new browsers and then deciding that the one you usually use is actually the best. I have tried most over a period if time but always end up going back to IE as I still think they are the best. Now I suppose I will have to try the latest version of Opera just so I can try to find out why some one likes it. I still have the latest version of Firefox on my computer but very rarely use it.    ;D
