Possible to save settings?

My BT2700HGV router has completely reset itself twice in the last couple of weeks after being completely stable since I bought it around a year ago.

Each time I have found the Internet light has gone to red and I have had to go through the 'javascript:document.pagepost.submit()' method from tripod to get my Plusnet connection up and running again before resetting all of the wireless security.

After the first reset I noticed that Parental Controls had suddenly appeared at http://home.

Is it possible to save the router settings to disc and then reload them if this happens again? Any thoughts on why the router should suddenly become unstable?

It's a dual hub with v5.29.117.6 software with CSS URL set to 10.0.0.0.

Hope not!

I've been hunting around and have come across references to a '12 day problem' but can't seem to find exactly what this is. Anyone care to enlighten me in nice easy words?

The early versions of the router rebooted every 300 hours, or 12 days. Nothing we tried could prevent that happening.

I presume I don't have that problem, then, as it hasn't happened during the previous 12 months.

Odd, though, that I have had Access Controls added since the first crash/reboot.

You cannot save the router settings.

The fastest way to re-enter your logon details is to use the Setup Wizard on the Home page.

Check that you are still with firmware v5.29.117.6, these have been auto updating to V6 in the past

Then the PSU is probably on the way out, look for one on Ebay, or even buy a whole router on Ebay. I bought an unopened 2700HGV last week for £2.99 delivered

Must be a cruddy router if you cannot back up a config file.

Speedtouch,even the cheapies I had let me save a file and the Draytek I have lets back up settings etc along with your firmaware in case you have an issue and need to go back.

Yes this "feature" is a pain in the neck, but the router is intended to be set up from provisioning servers using Keycodes rather than manually by individuals.

However because we can alter things manually, we take advantage of it's strengths and live with the downside.

Looks like it might be the power supply as the router has re-booted several times today. There's the quiet click of a relay from it, the lights go out and then it re-boots.

I decided the best thing to do was to get myself a replacement 2700. It arrived this morning.

The Provisioning Information page shows 'username B413351@hg43.btclick.com' which would seem to indicate it's been set up and used previously. Is my assumption correct?

Yes

Do a factory reset by holding the small button on the back pressed until the power LED turns RED, then let it reboot.

Use the set up wizard on the home page to enter your details. Follow the Guides for the rest of the configuration.
