Noticed in my portal this morning that my exchange has been upgraded, however - with an attenuation of 61 I wonder if it is worth moving over. Bandwidth wise I never get anywhere near my new Peak allowance of 10GB so the extra bandwith is not a factor here. I have a very stable line (see RouterStats screen shot) although at the moment I have an IP Profile of 2000kbps. It was 2500kbps but a couple of weeks ago some nice people decided they had a better use for my phone line and removed 4 miles of cabling during a Wednesday evening. Zilch for 4 days and when BT got us reconnected my profile and Noise Margin were well up the spout but have stabilised over the last week
With a nice stable line do I stand a better chance of getting a decent WBC connection or would the advice be to wait awhile.

BT Speedtester result:

Download speed achieved during the test was - 1869 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds  is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2816 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps

Stats from my Netgear DG834v4 and RouterStats:

Your stats are not too dissimilar to mine, Ian, so you could gain 500k-1M with a bit of luck. If it doesn't work out, you can be switched back to ADSL1 modulation, so the risks are small.

Or wait you'll probably get there by default, once your exchange has been upgraded its not economical for any ISP to keep you on adslmax.

Indeed and, sooner or later, BT will move everyone to MSANs anyway.

I think I probably will move over but have been rushed off my feet just lately so will sleep on it for a week or so and make sure my connection stays stable before I make any decisions.

I gained about 1 Mb on my line switching to WBC, but it seems less tolerant. My sync (by which I mean my profile, over the course of a few months) can steadily rise to 7,150 before unexpectedly dropping to 5,000 and then takes weeks to climb up again. I'm currently at 6,500 - still recovering from a January drop.

The highest I got before switching was a profile of 6,000.

Have I lost my way?

I agree, Steve, DLM on 2+ seems to have a hair trigger. The recent trial, allowing ISPs to override DLM, has been a great success though, allowing some lines to be run with a 1db NM. We just have to hope that BT roll it out soon.
