Had IDNET's Home Pro service for about 5 months now, not really had any troubles up until now.

I will randomly disconnect from Xbox Live, but the internet will not go down, just the connection to Live.

I have opened the required ports, and enabled NAT.

I'm a bit lost at what to do now, i'm not able to play any of my online games.  :-\

Any help is much appreciated.  ;)

EDIT: If it helps, I have no such problems with the Playstation Network or any online PC games.

Sorry, I'm a total non-gamer, but stick around, someone will be along shortly.

What router are you using?

It's a D-LINK DSL-2640R.

Is the xbox wired or wireless?

It's connected by a ethernet cable to the router.

On the PS3 it helps when using ethernet to put in the DNS servers manually, try that on the xbox to see if it helps maybe.

This has been happening to me too recently in addition to the Xbox being unable to connect to LIVE on startup - sometimes requires 5/10 mins before it can sign in.  ???

yeah it strange with me too, normally its suggested to just let the xbox automatically find an ip address but been having ip address conflict issues.

when i cant connect to live i normally just reboot the router which solves the problem.

dunno if its something on microsoft's end that they have changed  ???

PuncH

well, my xbox connects to live first time, every time and it never disconnects from live unexpectedly. so no, nothing has changed at microsofts end.

tried another network cable yet as i suggested?

I see a similar problem with Windows live messenger sometimes. No idea why, but occasionally I can't connect to it until I reboot my router. My Xbox360 has long since been a brick, but it happened with that on one or two occasions, which also forced a router reboot.

Just a update to the situation, I changed my XBOX 360 network settings to use a direct IP connection .8 instead of .2

It seems to have fixed all the problems I had.
