Don't get too excited! lol.

I'm moving my connection over to adsl2 and the upgrade is marked down for 22nd. Lets see how unstable my line gets now!  ;D

Has anyone had any downtime when they got moved over? I've got the 22nd down as "out of the office"  just incase, I dont trust BT ;D

Rik

I had about 15-20 minutes of downtime, Paul. The next 10 days were quite interesting, though, ADSL2+ seems much more noise sensitive.

My current stats are :

ADSL Link     Downstream     Upstream
Connection Speed    6112 kbps    448 kbps
Line Attenuation    38.0 db    24.0 db
Noise Margin    14.7 db    27.0 db

No idea why my noise margin stayed at 15.. I went to bed one night and the logs showed lots of disconnections (probly BT) and its defaulted my noise margin to 15, it was fine at 12 :(

I've only upgraded for the extra bandwidth and upstream.

Rik

You start a new training period with WBC, so hopefully you'll get a lower NM back.

I wouldn't care if they left it at 12 to be honest, at least there's enough to play with!

Rik

Mine moved from 9 to 12, then back to 6, then 3. IDNet put me on the trial of the new management system and locked down my profile at 6db. As a result, I've gained 1.5M over Max.

If mine stays at 6db, what speed should I be looking at?

Rik

Around 11.6M sync, 10.3M throughput after the profile has bitten plus overheads.

Ta, even though BT says 5.5mb on my line for adsl1, at 6db I get full 8megs! just wish my line wasn't so cr*p!

Baz

Im thinking of upgrading too so might wait and see how it goes for you Paul  :D :D :D

how come the date is 22nd seems a long wait.I was under the impression t could be done soon as, or is it a BT thing

Rik

It depends on BT and equipment availability, Baz. It's a physical wiring change, unlike a normal package change.

ah right. so yet again you're in the hands of good old BT...

psp83

My upgrade was placed through the websites late on friday. IDnet came back today with the 22nd, so I guess BT are busy. But they seem to be giving a 7 day timescale to everyone lately.. my mate just moved house and got a 7 day wait aswell..

He's coming to IDnet with phone and broadband  ;D

Rik

The more the merrier.
