That's always a pain, isn't it. I've got a bit of leeway to keep me at 4Gb.

The joys of a long line. ;D

Rik

Run a BT speed test, then let IDNet have the results of that and the above pings, they can take a look for you.

im 1.5 km from the exchange by road.

klipp

Download speedachieved during the test was - 2638 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :3801 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 837 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 16.03:23.5:60.46 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

Rik

That looks OK. Do the router stats show a lot of errors.

These are all the stats I can find, hopefully it's what you're talking about?  My router is Netgear DG834G v4.

Rik

You need to dig a bit deeper with the Netgear:

Type in the command: # adslctl info --stats

which should give you the following info:

Status: Showtime Channel: FAST, (or Interleaved).

and hopefully an error count.

Sorry, where do I type this?

Steve

Telnet

telnet the router address i.e 192.168.0.1 then login and then type the command

Edit you have to set debug first so easier if you read http://www.kitz.co.uk/routers/netgeardg834_interleaving.htm

hells bells

My speeds are ALWAYS 0.9 Down, 0.5 Up. Nothing supersonic but its steady and I can surf from page to page while downloading a large(ish) file so I'm more than happy! Unlike the service I got with a certain ex-broadband provider I will not mention..............

OK I will.... o2 access!!  :hehe:
What on earth was I thinking going on to O2 Access?!
Fortunately I got rid and discovered IDNet!

Rik

 ;D

You've got a fairly low error count, Klipp, but it appears to happen in bursts. Is there anything electrical switching on and off.
