I've just updated to 9.1 when iTunes asked me.

It downloaded and installed ok. Opened it after the reboot and got this

Any ideas? I've tried downloading from the website and re-installing, still the same.

Never got that in the last version.

Rik

Any idea what AMIP for iTunes is, Paul? I take it you have checked COM+ services are running?

I've just found this site:

http://amip.tools-for.net/wiki/

Could it be that it's an incompatibility between iTunes and this 'plugin'?

Dunno, I haven't installed any plugins.

COM+ is running.

Rik

Worth checking Add/Remove for AMIP?

I would check, but I don't even know how to access the plugins for iTunes, didn't even know iTunes supported plugins until your post today lol.

Rik

Me neither, but I was thinking of Windows Add/Remove.

Just checked. its not in add/remove programs  ???

Rik

The site refers to iTunes thus:

iTunes users can access AMIP options by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift+O. Another way to access options is Visualizer | Turn Visualizer On (Ctrl+T), then Visualizer | AMIP, then click on the round Options button on the right.

Does that sound at all familiar?

Nope. none of that works.

I think I will have to do a reformat, I've been having alot of trouble with iTunes in the last few months. It works fine if I log out and into the other account on this PC.

Rik

The second site says it's an Apple program, so perhaps if you removed iTunes and all it's parts, it would give you a clean start?

I've tried that, I've even tried the way apple recommends on there site, even cleaning out the shared files and stuff in "appdata" folder etc, Basically removing all trace of iTunes/Apple from this account, But still get the problem(s)

Rik

What a pain. Registry cleaner?

Yeah, I use ccleaner and always clean the reg after removing a program. I always do a reboot aswell before re-installing, Its just a habbit  ;D

Rik

There goes another bright idea. Could you roll back the iTunes version?

Well I don't mind tbh, Gives me chance to start from fresh, Everything has become a mess on this PC, Files everywhere etc, Gives me a chance to sort out the folder structure again.

Rik

Yep, Gives me something to do & time to do it right this time. Might even setup a better backup system if I get time.

Rik

 ;D

If it's quiet this weekend, we'll blame you. :)

hehe, don't you worry, I'll be around, I've got a choice of computers, laptops & netbook to use  :P

Steve

Try turning off bonjour services if its present I've had trouble with that before.  If was a Mac I'd create another user account and see if I could install it from there

Niall

I'm using iTunes 9.0.3 and it hasn't asked me to update it  ???

On the subject, a woman in work yesterday was complaining that there is a compatibility issue with iTunes and some other media player she uses, and the only way she could get it to work was to remove iTunes when wanting to watch something, and then reinstall it when she wanted to connect her iphone!

Okay, I've checked for updates and it's letting me download an update now. Strange it wasn't telling me about the update though, as it should. Right, lets try breaking my PC ;D

How odd. Wouldn't it be easier to install two separate user accounts?

Well everything seems to be working with this update. That being said, I've only got my blues music listed in it and that was an accident :D

Mine works fine after a reformat, I guess something c**ked up somewhere.

2hrs aint bad for a full re format & be backup and running.

Simon

It would have taken me about 2 days!

AAMOI, while the main machine is down, I've moved to my secondary machine. This isn't up to date in terms of iTunes. I have backups of the library, so I could easily move the music over, but could I do it more simply by syncing the iPod on this machine, ie will the iPod update the desktop?
Rik

Steve

I think the answer is no via a sync as the ipod syncs with the library and not the other way round. You can pull files off the iPod in disk mode but they are not stored by obvious music file names. So easier just to add the 'new' music to the library from the backup
