moved from adsl2+ to adsl

OK I asked support to move me from asdl2+ to adsl, as I cant get faster than 8meg anyway, as you know my connection has been flaky.
I got an activation mail today. the same one I got when I joined so I presume I've been moved. especially as I had no internet connection when I came home, and had to disconnect and then re-connect the connection whn I logged in. I'm guessing another learning period will take place, but it's looking healthier

You haven't moved yet, look at the upstream speed. These changes normally happen overnight.

Would it not keep the upstream speed, as the ADSL 2+ will be profiled to behave as a Max connection?

But a Max connection has an upstream of 448 or 823k, so I'd expect to see one of those two speeds.

My max connection shows as u/l connection 832, but a max of 896 kbs?

That's just the router saying what the line could achieve. I'll have to ask some more questions tomorrow.

I am back on AdslMax and the up-speed is now set at 768, it appears that both directions is dynamic

Various Speed testers are showing an up-load speed of 643 Kbps right now.

So if you have a poor line it may be worth spending £12.50 to move to ADSL2+ and then change back to AdslMax and keep the higher upload.

You also keep the WBC download allowances.

No, I asked in writing "Is another fee payable and do I revert to the AdslMax download limits ?"

and so was the reply. " You will still remain on an MSAN and on the same package. No charge is payable to change back to ADSL. "

After 24 hours, my ADslMax connection on a MSAN is still performing exactly as it did on a DSLAM.

SNR dropped to 3dB at one point, but is remaining pretty steady at 6dB during the day and the sync is holding at 4640 down/ 768 up.

The line has been initially profiled at 3500, but I expect that to go to 4000 if the sync holds up.

I can't believe I made a mistake and then gained from it

If you are prepared to risk it, that one off payment is worth a £10 a month bandwidth allowance.

My AdslMax/MSAN connection remains rock solid.

The download connection has been sync'd at 4640 with 6dB SNR since the change back and the upload rate is 768Kbps.

AS anticipated the Profile has now moved up to 4000Kbps.

The line is now performing exactly as it did on a DSLM

BTSpeedtest this morning got a download speed of 4050Kbps
