Think I've stumbled across some kind of 'in' joke.

Has this guy got an axe to grind

Dean lives near the railway, down in Simpson iirc. The Virgin Pendolino trains produce a lot of electrical noise and disrupt ADSL. In addition, the cables there are not in the best condition, which doesn't help.

Case is building for IDNet as non-metering of uploads seems to make all the difference according to my measurements.

My line profile has dropped to 750 Kbps.

Do you know if IDNet operate multiple gateways so that traffic is balanced acorss the network?

Rik

That depends on what you mean. There is a single hostlink, with automatic fallback. They have a number of realms, but these have little practical use these days.

Zen had multiple edge switches based in various DCs in London, Leeds, Manchester and Rochdale which would terminate the Centrals or MSILs.

When I've done tracerts it looks as though Newnet only have the one and I'm wondering if its getting a little overloaded.

Rik

You'd have to talk to support to get that level of information.

Thought I might but thought it was worth a go.

Anyway going to wait out a couple of months and see how my profile goes.

Rik

Don't forget your profile is purely about sync speed, though.

I powered off the router for about 40 minutes last night to allow the session to expire.

Suppose I'll just have to wait for BT's DLM which I thought was smarter on 21CN?

Not really much benefit to the consumer than.

Rik

Very little that emanates from BT is. :(

As I said earlier in a thread somewhere I reckon we'd still have rotary dial phones if it was up to BT.

My grandparents, God bless 'em still had those into the mid 90's

Rik

Hard-wired to a single point. You were very posh if you had multiple phones/sockets.
