I powered off the router for about 40 minutes last night to allow the session to expire.

Suppose I'll just have to wait for BT's DLM which I thought was smarter on 21CN?

Trouble is these days with no centrals and a hostlink you end up connecting to the same pathway as before, the MSAN is supposed to react to increases in sync much quicker than the old system however you are still limited by fixed margins and possible profile banding.

I'm assuming that support (if I decide to move) are quite helpful with this kind of stuff?

Rik

They are. You'll talk to Miriam, James or Brian day to day, but for detailed information of this sort, you'd need to talk to Simon, one of the MDs. He may even spot this post and reply.

And I'm assuming if I started on the base package and wanted to upgrade they don't charge?

Glenn

I believe it free to upgrade but they can charge to downgrade.

One last question.

How much do ID charge for additional usage?

I'll see how my line settles this month but may well be on the move in a couple of months.

£1/Gb

But you'll get warning emails if it looks likely to happen, and you can keep a check on usage through the customer portal or the RSS feed.

My line profile has dropped to 750 Kbps.

Do you know if IDNet operate multiple gateways so that traffic is balanced acorss the network?

Our 21CN Hostlink connection to BT is delivered over 2 x 1Gbps circuits. We round-robin PPP sessions into us across those two links for load-balancing. So, you should see different gateway IP addressess in your traceroutes from time to time.

Cheers

Surley you can't use all and more of your bandwith every money???  They massivley increased usage across the boad not so long ago.

Glenn

It depends what package you start on Adam. If a customer starts on the minimum, then increase each month, until they find one that matches thier useage, they may get charged for excess bandwidth getting to the correct package.
