Rik

I thought Alan (kinmel) was up to something...

So did I, I am quite disappointed that my escape plan will fail

Looks very impressive but too realistic for me! Besides, I suck at games like that - within an hour I would be looking for cheat codes as otherwise I would spend all the time I played it in the introductory area :)

pctech

I like horror films so looking forward to playing it in a darkened room on a 32" telly.

Inkblot

I'm just a big wuss - can't stand horror films, too easily scared! Strictly speaking it's more the suspense I hate rather than the gore. I hate the bits where the scantily clad nubile young lady walks gingerly down the dimly-lit corridor and you *know* she is going to get attacked. As soon as the killer emerges from the shadow, stabs her, rips her head off and scoops the brains out I'm fine though :)

vitriol

Looking forward to playing it too.  Looks very good, hopefully the story / voice acting will be up to scratch.  Hopefully they learned alot in these areas by playing the superb Batman : Arkham Asylum.

pctech

Its been in development for nearly 5 years so I'm expecting something rather special.

If you look on gametrailers there are some other gameplay vids such as a police escape sequence.

vitriol

Yes it's been in development for ages.....I remember buying an Xbox360 magazine before the machine had even launched and it came with a DVD showcasing forthcoming games.  Alan Wake was one of them.  IIRC that was around October / November 2005.

pctech

IIRC the 360 launched in the December

Glenn

It's like GT5 for the PS3, That was due xmas 2008 I believe, they are now saying 2010

Yeah it did, but it was released in the states at the end of November, I think I've still got the issue somewhere.

GT5 - eek! how long has that been in development !!!  Will it ever be released lol.

esh

They quietly canceled the PC version as I remember :(
CompuServe 28.8k/33.6k 1994-1998, BT 56k 1998-2001, NTL Cable 512k 2001-2004, 2x F2S 1M 2004-2008, IDNet 8M 2008 - LLU 11M 2011

netn00b

i thought the pc version was still going to happen ?

HMV have mailed me to say they've dispatched it.

opted for the Limited Edition one with the soundtrack CD.

zappaDPJ

It does look quite entertaining, I might pick up a copy myself.

pctech

From what I've seen from the videos its more like a film than a game.

zappaDPJ

That was the impression I got as well but I'd look upon it as more of an adventure game than an FPS.

Yes.

Should be pretty special considering they've been developing it for five years.

vitriol

Damn it !!!!  Just returned from town and have forgotten to buy this  :'(

Simon

Oh, isn't that infuriating!  :)x

Well, it took me a while to get beyond walking into a wall for 5 minutes but i *think* i got the hang of it now XD

Big fan of TF and TF2, currently having fun with AVP having become well and truly bored of WOW.

Rik

I never got beyond solitaire. :)

I have it but not played it yet as too busy taking on Cisco IOS to take on the Taken just at the moment.

There is a set of prequal videos on alanwake.com which give detail the events leading up to the game.

pctech

Had a break and played AW last night.

Was absolutely blown away and had to tear myself away.

I've been waiting for that game for ages and I bought the 360 in anticipation

vitriol

The missus walked in from work last night with the Alan Wake Limited Edition box set :)

Going to try it tonight.  Can't wait.

pctech

I don't think it's going to present a major challenge to any hardcore gamer but I think its a nice title to play.

The soundtrack CD vontains some really pleasant music and the documentaries on the bonus disc are interesting too.

pctech

Just in case anyone is interested Remedy have released Petri Alanko's full orchestral score on CD and you can get it from Amazon for £7.99

vitriol

I still haven't finished it yet.  Not had the time to play.  I think I'm only on on chapter 3 !!!!
