are o2 blocking pptp?

from about the 20th of this months anyone know?

Just i have a relative who pptp's to one of my servers and now they cant!!

Did a bit of digging turns out they are rolling out a router firmware that blocks vpn.

O2 support's stock answer is we do not support vpn your browsing etc is fine-go away.

I am going to try and convince her to come to the good side

O2 seem to have bitten off more than they can chew as an ISP which is a shame as they started off so well, I can see why Orange are giving up, its not good for your overall image.

PlusNet had that problem recently on their Thomson TG585v7 routers ( I think O2 use the same box ), but have now issued new f/w that puts PPTP support back in.

Hit your local freecycle, someone will be giving away a router that sucks slightly less than thomson kit tends to, definitely worth switching to a different product if it can stop your ISP screwing your router up whenever they see fit

We're talking about the O2 supplied routers ( TG585v7 ) I think.

The original post did not refer to a router as far as I can see,

It appeared to be referring to a broadband service offered by O2

I was simply asking if the OP was related to the O2 Access package that has a diabolical record of throttling/blocking etc

I don't think its related to any particular O2 package, if its like the PlusNet problem its purely down to the router they supplied and maybe upgraded the f/w thereof.
I can't imagine that any ISP is going to directly block VPN traffic on their network.
