RIM has confirmed it will launch a new operating system for its BlackBerry smartphones in the next quarter, as it looks to close the features gap on more consumer-friendly rivals.

Describing the long-awaited operating system as one of the "biggest BlackBerry overhauls in years", RIM co-Chief Executive Mike Lazaridis showed a short video of the OS to analysts gathered in Orlando, Florida.  At the heart of the OS is a more finger friendly interface, a customisable home screen, widgets and a much improved browser - long considered a weakness of the phone.

That subject really had me confused, I thought it meant overhaul as in sales, and was try to work out how that could possibly happen.  ;D

Research in Motion?  I guess it doesn't make that much sense, but then, neither does Apple.  :)

Palm had some meaning, of course, but when it was called a USR Pilot it didn't.

I noticed that this morning, Glenn. It should be good news for Palm users, but only time will tell.

Palm, that HP company. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/04/28/hp_buys_palm/

There goes my pay rise again.

Don't worry, Glenn, I've just put some money in their coffers I've just invested in a Procurve 8 port unmanaged gigabit switch.  ;) ;D
