Everything seems speedy on my laptop, I'd say a bit quicker than the Vista OS if I'm honest.

Steve

Some would say thats not difficult to achieve. I've been experimenting with Fedora which seems very slick and robust.

I'm currently running Mint in dual boot. If I could get my TV card and webcam working reliably, with WINE for those awkward programs, I could migrate completely.

Have I lost my way?

I can confirm the GTX295 works just fine in linux :) I switch between win7 and opensuse on this box, both love the card.  Do install the binary drivers though, it's a joke how much performance improves over the opensource nv driver :)

I tried the gnome 3 desktop last night, very cool indeed.  Still some bugs there but it is still beta I think.

Personally I'm waiting for v 10 'drunk dog'  ;D :out:

I had to print out some documents last night so powered up the Epson R300.  Plugged in the USB lead, expecting to have to faff around with drivers and well errr it just worked :)

Little message on screen saying the the Epson R300 was ready to use.  Nice.

Now you all just need to switch from ubuntu to opensuse with kde4 and you'll be sorted :)

All in good time.  Something I don't have a lot of at the moment

Steve

I would have suggested Fedora12

What? They've made a fedora that actually works? I don't believe it :p

Rik

It was favoured by Mafia types.
