Ok, thanks rik ;) - ill leave it on its own for now then!

Note: AMON can interfere with games a little, depending on how much info your game loads. However, it has a "exclude folder/file" option - which is simply great!

Rik

I'll have to take your word on that Avenger. The nearest I come to a game is playing Solitaire when I'm really bored. :)

Just one thing to add, that ive noticed since installtion of NOD32 - On shutdown, the FDD is accessed 3 times. Not a problem, just a observation ;)

Rik

You have a FDD? :)

AMON > Setup > uncheck diskette.

Thanks rik :)

You never know...that FDD could be quite usefull at times :)

(actually, it gathers dust! - Only used it to load "boot it ng"!)

Rik

I know what you mean, just once in a while something comes along, usually at boot time, that demands a floppy. However, I usually find that, by the time I need one, it has gathered so much dust as to be unusable (diskettes are getting quite hard to find too!), so I keep a USB floppy drive in the cupboard.

Unticking diskette doesnt do it rik, however unticking either "check on shutdown" or unticking the other box under deskette does it!

Should also note that ive decided i mayaswell go ahead and buy it :) - it doesnt take long to impress me ;)

Rik

Glad to hear it, Avenger - you took about as long to decide as I did. :)

Just a quick question...

Now that spyware doctor 5 has been fully released, should i install that aswell?

I mean, Eset's threat engine also handles spyware etc apparently...not sure if that matters or not in use with a diff spyware scanner?

Rik

I didn't stick long with SD, Avenger, as I found a few problems with it. I now use Webroot's SpySweeper, and run that once a week or so, I don't have it running in the background, NOD gets most things, I just let Sweeper try and find anything that's left, which it very rarely does.

Ok rik - ill have to dig out those instructions someone gave me on how to turn SD's background processes off..(in the forum here somewhere)!

Hi

I have upgraded to v5 now 5.0.0.169 the quick scan ran in 5 mins. Seems ok so far will keep you updated if I have any problems........

Plusnet :P

AvengerUK

Installed it :)

Seems to be ok now, but at first my Inet went (computer couldnt load any pages etc) then a NOD32 service crashed, then Firefox crashed...then IMON said "Repaired settings something or other" - and now working again :S.

Might of been because Firewall was stopping SD update (blocking) and i clicked cancel by mistake on NOD's update...

...Just hope it wasnt anything nasty / caused anything nasty!

Rik

It sounds like the experience I had with SD. It's why it's an ex-program on my machine. I hope yours is OK though.

I think it must of been my firewall..true SD shouldnt of failed if my firewall blocked it...but, then again...most software does ;)

Active gaurd settings are off, which is a good start :)

I just hope the settings IMON said it had changed/restored didnt mess anything up, not to mention NOD crashing in a update!

Rik

If you're concerned about NOD, Avenger, go here and test it with EICAR.
