When i got my new PC and RAM, my RAM has this "safe guard" thing where it sets CL to 5 instead of 4. This has to be manually put to 4. I did this, (including putting voltage right) but never really found out wether i did it correctly...

Given all the mergers of late, are you really sure of that, Lance? ;)

Very true Avenger, and Alfa's can go around corners, if they don't breakdown before they reach them, they are also very poorly ( read cheaply ) made.

Oh and that Rik, my mate had an Alfasud, the drivers window fell off of it's runner dropped straight through what was the bottom of the door.

Now they just breakdown at an alarming frequency.

Next door has an 05 Alfa, rumour has it his Wife is having an affair with the RAC Man, he attends that often...

It is now on it's third engine at less than 20,000 miles ..  :o

Ouch. My Japanese engines (touching wood) have just gone on and on. They don't seem to need much attention, don't use oil, just plain work...

Can't say I am, I did stop and think about it but decided in essence they are Italian! The new Alfa's are apparently much better and more reliable now.

They could only get better Lance, like Rik,  I will stick with my Japanese marvel of engineering technology.

The Italians should stick to making ice cream, far less to go wrong..  ;D

Anyhow - back to the problems im having...

Ive made progress!

However, ive no idea how to sort it...

Ive found that the application performing badly is only using 50% of each CPU...if set to one CPU, it uses 100%. So...how to get it to use both..rather than just think theres one...a problem i think!

It sounds like ur AMD Dual Core patch isnt working properly

AvengerUK

"It sounds like ur AMD Dual Core patch isnt working properly"

Im sure it is, otherwise Planetside wouldnt use both cores at all i believe. (planetside is the game in question).

Where as, other games do so!

EDIT:

A similarly old game, Halo (PC) - maxes both cores...so it must be working?

mrapoc

Have you tried setting affinity to both cores? Well thats wot u have to do with C2Ds

AvengerUK

Yes, set Affinity to both cores.

Tech support's first answer was: try disabling your firewall

I think that may take the prize for the most stupid answer ever...;)
