All good here know. BT profile has kicked in and now have profile of 8 meg.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 8527 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :9326 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 888 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 8000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 16.17:22.8:61.03 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

RESULT !!!

Cheers Steve,

to be honest i'd be happy with 6.5 / 7 meg and a margin of 9db ish. Half expecting 8meg with a 6db margin to be a bit marginal and up my error rate. After all it's the best numbers I've ever had.

With a bit of luck I must be due a period of no modem / filter failures , BT nodes going AWOL , etc.  :fingers: :fingers:

I have been following this thread with interest. An IDNET customer has been greatly inconvenienced by a BT system failure. It could be any of us. I think the communications from IDNET posted here have been very professional and a very good example of how the company deals with the fragile world of broadband over BT to achieve a successful outcome.

Rik

I'm sure IDNet will be gratified to read your comments, Dave. You can't please all of the people all of the time, but I do know that IDNet try their best to achieve just that.

Yes indeedy, IDnet are top notch. This set up is basically what Nildram used to be years ago. Relatively small (I suppose that's subjective when the boss has to pay the bills :P) with a support team that know what they're talking about, don't read off scripts and seem to go out of their way to solve problems :)

I just hope what happened to Nildram doesn't happen here. If some dodgy bunch of foreigners dangles money at you, tell em to pee off :D

I don't think IDNet would sell up, Niall, they know many of us would leave if the service changed.

Question is, if Abramovich came calling and said to them to write their own cheque, would they sell up?

I think it'd be hard not to, and I think most of us in the same situation may give in.

I would only stay if he gave me the same option

Rik

I agree, if the price is right, Simon and Tim would be daft to say no. If it changed the character of the service, though, customers would be out the door in droves.

Could well happen Rik, though I think it'd more likely be BT or Timico than Roman Abramovich

Rik

Given Timico's prices, we'd all be headed for the door fast. ;D

I'm interested to see what will happen with Newnet now they own it.

I think if I move from IDNet it will prob be back to Zen.

Rik

That would be my natural move, Mitch. I just hope never to have to make it.

I've often thought raising money from customers would be a good move. We already feel like we have a stake in the company, so helping them to expand or re-equip would just be an extension of that.

Would be an interesting move wouldn't it?

Rik

It would, and one that I'd much prefer to a sell out. :)

When I decided to move my lines from BT to the phone co-op I was looking at their broadband too and thought 'If they operate their own infrastructure I'll move my connection'

So I was quite disappointed when I found out they resold Carphone Warehouse connections.

Rik

Disappointed is not normally a word I associate with CPW, appalled is the one I usually use. ;)

Yes, I did say that unfortunately I wouldn't be taking the broadband for that reason.
