As title...

Anyone else suffering tonight ?

Everything 'looks' ok on router diagnostics (Netgear dgn2000 and have tried an old 2Wire)

Have a sync of 9000 ish, all other router diagnostics tests say i'm connected - lights on the modems say i am too - but unable to access any websites.

HELP !!!

Cheers

Steve

Any chance its a local network problem. I presume all lights mean you have an adsl sync and a ppp to IDNET. You can get a "rogue' session where everything looks right but have no internet access, the cure for that is to power down for 30 mins and then reconnect. If your happy is not a local network issue contact support as you have no connection and they should respond.

Steve,

everything - modem , diagnostics , sync , etc. - is telling me I 'should' have a connection.

By power down do you mean modems and / or pc's ?

Seem to remember a problems a couple of months ago.

I'm finding websites very slow tonight too, but pings and BT speedtest are OK.

just had a drop about 15 mins ago for 2 mins or so  :dunno:  but i'm monitoring mine as had some bother last week.

Steve

So you've got a wireless connection to the router as you've got an address so LAN should be ok, unless something odd is happening to your firewall. I am guessing an authentication issue like you had similar before or you've got a rogue session which should clear with a 30 min disconnect.

I think the problems back in March were BT related. A box got kicked and everything came back - eventually. Buggered my sync (down below 6000) and noise margins (15+) though due to numerous reboots. Have just got back to a decent sync again.....over 9000.

Have not change any firewall settings so don't think that's an issue.

Anyway will leave modem off overnight and retry tommorow evening with a call to support if still suffering.

Niall

My sisters connection has been bad again. My sisters other half called support who basically told him it was a problem at his side. There is nothing at his side that it could be as everything is new and works fine (checked it myself the other week). I assume it'll be an ongoing thing. Her other half has said he's seen BT working on phone lines just down the road, so maybe the problems he's had in the past have finally been looked into by them so it's possible it's that.

I have to say I'm baffled why IDnet support told him it was a problem at his end when it can't be ??? Normally they're on the ball. Personally I think there's a problem with the actual line on that road as someone on another ISP, on the same road has had problems but are on the same exchange as the both of us. My line has been rock solid for the same period (my router logs show it's been fine). I'm less than half a mile away on a main road the same distance away from the exchange, possibly about 400 yards nearer.

Your connection was fine until 18:19 yesterday evening, when the router started losing sync at frequent intervals, ie every few seconds. I suspect the router was showing a connection because it wasn't keeping up with the speed of the changes.

If you have an NTE5 master socket, can you try the router there and see what happens. Also, try the quiet line test, dial 17070 and select option 2. You should only hear a quiet background hum or hiss. Do this from the test socket if you can, without the router plugged in. A new filter would be a good diagnostic too.

If the problem persists, call support. They can't test your line at the moment as the router is disconnected/off, but they tell me your profile is still at 7150.

Update - via dial up...

Been at work all morning but mangaged to blag the afternoon off.

Just Spoke to Brian on the Help Desk - two rings and straight through.

Looks like i'm suffering from some heavy packet loss due to an unstable connnection. Brian spoke to BT and rang me back - whilst I was reconnecting to the master socket - and it would appear there is a problem on the Milton Keynes exchange. They are currently investigating and will be updating 1.30ish.

Brian has suggested re-booting every hour or so to see it connections clears.

Hurrah, super Rik to the rescue. My sister's line is now running at 9mb down & 1mb up. That's the fastest it's ever gone since they've been at that house. He's now plying me with beer tonight as a result (being off work is handy).

Thanks very much Rik, I'd send you a beer, but you're not allowed so you can have a karma instead ;D  :karma2:

Add me to the list of 'no service' tonight.

200kb of emails just took 5 minutes to download.  Last 2/3 days has slowly ground to a halt. Internet virtual unusable.  I'm having to use work mobile dongle to do this.

Not happy

Have you spoken to support?

Can we have a BT speed test and your router stats please?
