My Line

I've read in different topics that after X amount of days the exchange equipment should drop the noise margin by 3 and sync increase etc etc.

My router has been connected and not had a resync (from what I know) in 618 hrs or 25 days to everyone else but my line stats have stayed the same..

Do you think my line is "locked" to them settings to keep it stable?

Connection Speed   6318 kbps   1016 kbps
Line Attenuation   40 db   12 db
Noise Margin   11 db   5 db

Sometimes the downstream sync is banded and it won't let you sync any higher but your a bit below the top of that band which is 6656

Probly happened when I was messing around by the router and knocked something.

OR

It could of been when I was changing some settings on the router..

I dont know, I'm not normally with it in the mornings lol..

And you was right about the resync this morning.

Wed, 2010-06-02 11:40:07 - CHAP authentication success

Something over 2,000 errors/hour, then, 3-4 a minute. I expect DLM is using the noise margin to keep the line stable.

I guess thats bad then  ???

Thought it was doing something like that as my stats hasn't changed for ages.

Connection Speed   6318 kbps   1016 kbps

Everytime I get a resync the sync speed doesn't change even if the margin is below the default 15.

Not complaining though, Line seems stable since changing over to ADSL2, More stable than ADSL1, aslongs it stays like it  ;D

I'm just wondering if a new line would help. But neighbours get around the same speed, we are on the same pole (left side of house).

I know the pole on the same side of the road but the right side of our house gets better speeds.

There's too many variables for anyone to tell you whether a new line would help - there may be different paths back to the exchange, or a better pair etc.

Anyways...... 5-6meg is ok for me at the mo.

I'm lucky here. As the first ADSL adopter, I got a kind BT engineer who found the best pair for me. :)

The last person that looked at my line changed the pair to be a better pair on the pole and said my line was going "the long" way and said he re-routed it a shorter way.

But he also said that the box on the pole was corroded.
