Looking at the two v6 units, I see two different user interfaces.     The build level, part numbers and firmware build and releases are:

                       Original    Replacement

Serial Number   4809xxxxxxxx           4509xxxxxxxx
Part Number   4201 003003 008           4201 903003 008
Model            BT2700HGV                BT2700HGV
Hardware Version   2701-100589-005    2701-100589-005
Firmware Version   6.1.1.48.1-enh.tm    6.1.1.48.1-enh.tm
MAC address   34:ef:                   3c:ea:
Key Code   528Y-27G4-A222-22BJ-B22V    528Y-27G4-A222-22BJ-B22V
First Use Date   April 1, 2010            January 1 1970

system   136000    136000
base_ui   136001    136001
common_en   136002    136002
base_voice   136003    136003
bt-2700hgv-pppoa_config   136009    136009
bt-business_providerconf   136010    136010
bt-business   136011    136011
bt-business_en   136012    136012
Firewall Rules    1000   1000
Application List    1001   1001

As you can see they are "identical" except for the Part number where the replacement has 903003 in the middle block.

If I go to the Home page: http://10.0.0.1/xslt?PAGE=A_0_0   on the Original I get the Quick Service list on the right which has:       Access Controls  -  Content Screening  -  BT Broadband Voice  -  BT Fusion  -  BT Openzone     but on the Replacement there is just  BT Broadband Voice  -  BT Fusion  -  BT Openzone     with Access Control and Content Screening missing.     Under the Services Tab where I would expect Access Control to be, it is missing.

There are several other differences, including first use date which seems stuck in 1970 and Link Monitor is missing too!

If they are the same release, how can one different to the other?

Is there any way to get the firmware in the "Replacement" to match that in the "Original".    I would like to have the Access Control facility available.

Has serial number 4509*********** been connected to an adsl line for any length of time ?

The 1970 date is the the chipset entry for an unused router and it also appears not have deployed the BT provisioning code (528Y-27G4-A222-22BJ-B22V ) to give the correct services.

Leave 4509****** connected for a few days and then re-boot and check the entries .  Please let us know if any changes happen.

Kinmel,   thanks ...

It had not been connected before ... that I know of.   The box was sealed but PSU, cables and adapters were loose and the clear plastic film on the front was not there - so, had it been tested previously?

Anyway, set up as much as I could and connected the line.

Logged on again within a couple of minutes and the missing services have "appeared".   Everything else was marked BT and was the correct layout, just the missing services.

Now to see if it stays on Ch13!

Regarding your post on BT's Forum, the Link monitoring tool for V6 is at http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_5_1  and you need to be logged into the router before it will work.

I could not answer your query at the BT forum because I am not a member  :thumb:

I had posted that at much the same time as I posted the original here, but before your answer!  and I believe  mentioned the monitor in my original here too.   Connecting it up was all that was needed to bring the missing services into play including the monitor.  The rationale behind it defeats me ...

Thanks again ...  And it seems to be behaving itself too.    Maybe I can now move the WAPs around to improve coverage in a couple of areas.     4 does sound a lot but having 4 bedrooms, 2 offices, massive garden and remote summer house and workshop - different directions, and metal floor plates means that coverage can be patchy.

I missed the bit about the monitor on your post here

The reason services are missing at first start up is the unique way that 2 wire use to configure the router for different ISPs.

There is a whole menu of facilities factory built into the router and each ISP uses their Provisioning key ( BT use 528Y-27G4-A222-22BJ-B22V  ) to set the router up for their own scenario.
