Can't do anytihng on my connection at the moment :( Can't even watch a tutorial video on youtube.

Am usually over 10mbps and this week have been at :

My sync has dropped from 12 down to 9 as well but SNR/noise is rouglhy the same.

Have done the usual restart, unplug for half an hour etc. Can't wait till the stupid world cup is over :D means it wont be long till a real sport (Tour de France)

Rik

Sync drops are always a local issue between you and the exchange, have you tried from the master socket?

Overall, there's a clear 'World Cup' slowdown affecting most people. IDNet have laid on extra bandwidth and their network is coping fine, but BT's backhaul and local VPs seem to be struggling.

I'll second that, Rik, I'm down to 1.19Mb/s now.  :(

Yeah it's definitely local congestion/world cup related (although is there such thing as congestion on WBC/LLU?), well at least I can distract myself with the sound of a thousand bees if I turn the football on.

Rik

About the same here, Ray:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 1283 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 1000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :4180 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 768 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3500 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 15.12:42.87:42.01 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

It was 3M this morning. :(

I'm on home Supermax, I think it's exchange contention, Gary, my exchange has had red VPs for several months and it seems BT aren't in a rush to do anything about it. :( It's only a small rural exchange with about 1600 subscribers.
I know the feeling about being a small rural exchange , Ray. Saying that we have about the same number of users and somethings happened our end decrease ping times buy 12s so there is hope it all might get better, maybe  BT are now looking at the smaller exchanges a bit more  ::)
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Strangely, when I got home last night, the nm was at 12db, I resync'd to 2.3mb

Rik

I've noticed a drop in NM of 1db in the past week (no resyncs), so I'm guessing that it's down to increased cross-talk.

Considering this is the worst world cup I have seen.

If its ment for You, it wont pass You.

Rik

Part of your problem is that you've had a low sync event and that's reduced your profile to 3000k. For that profile, your speed is fine. Do you have an NTE5 master socket, so that you could connect the router to the test socket behind the faceplate?

Rik

I've spoken to support. DLM records suggest that you've had the 3k profile since March, but that may be because they haven't collected all the data (it takes a resync to trigger a DLM record). You do, however, seem to have had a series of resyncs on June 14, 9 in a matter of minutes. That would certainly account for the current profile.

Move to the test socket, if you have one, and give it 72 hours. If things haven't improved, then let support know and they'll ask for a manual reset of noise margin, which should trigger a profile change.

Interleaving has been turned on as a result of the recent resyncs, which will, in part, account for the ping issue.

Thanks Rik. Broadband is connected to NET5, will give it till Monday hopefully things will have improved. Thanks again.

Rik

You need to remove the face plate and connect to the test socket which will be revealed. That eliminates any issues with your wiring (including a faulty faceplate).

I'd not expect anything to change immediately, you need to leave the connection there for 24-48 hours and see if the router drops sync at all. Also, keep an eye on your downstream noise margin and see if that varies much. Routerstats can help with that:

Seems all is back to normal tho latency is slightly higher, was 73ms before and, before that was 33ms.

Latency could just be the current World Cup/Wimbledon traffic.

It shouldn't be needed with those stats, but may have been used to counter instability.

Oh dear, not only is the sync and profile down from what it usually is, there's not even an ounce of decent speed for the one I do have. I hate BT and I hate football.
