Has some work been done in the past week?

And I don't mean the new central.

At weekend my SNR suddenly went from about 1 to over 10 (Netgear router so probably understated). Now my sync is up and stable from 5.5 meg to 6.5 meg, and D/L speeds are up commensurately.

Now I'm not complaining, but what's happened. My line has been pretty much stuck araound the 5.5 meg for over a year, I'm not aware of any work having been done, and the new central just maintained the status quo. I just want to know what's happened so I can do it again.

Sounds like BT did some work at your exchange or on the backhaul. Did you notice any downtime? What's happened to your attenuation?

Attenuation is pretty much the same as it has always been. I'm not aware of any work, either locally or at the exchange.

Downtime - well - the odd momentary glitch (usually when I'm not here - so no inconvenience). I had one drop out last night - but re-synced right back at 6.5 Meg - which has been pretty much the norm for 4 - 5 days now.

Still not complaining, though :)

Put it down to the whims of BT then, they do sometimes move in mysterious ways. I have a stuck profile, but it's stuck high. Like you, I'm not complaining! :)

Yep......I noticed am improvement from 5.5Mb to 6.5Mb about the same time. But it only lasted for a day.
I thought it must have been connected to the work IDNet were doing, but maybe not.
5.5Mb is fine.......not complaining....but anything else is a welcome bonus.

Cheers :)

Well - I have to say - mine just keeps getting better. Up to 6752 sync when I turned it on tonight (peak time). It's dropped to 6528 now, but that's still a meg more than I'm used to.

Oh - and it seems my cars exhaust and dashboard lights have repaired themselves, too (following yesterday's MOT).

I'm starting to suspect something a little supernatural  :-\

No - it's just the power of IDNet, reaching all those corners that other ISPs can only dream of. ;D

LOL - In that case can I ask that IDNet also take a look at my bank balance and see if they can make similar improvements there ;)
