O2 has become the latest mobile operator to unveil its prices for the iPhone 4, intriguingly offering the handset at a cheaper up-front cost on shorter contracts.

The 16GB version will cost £209 on a £30, 18-month contract, and £279 on a £25 a month, two year contract. The 32GB version will start from £299 on the 18-month contract and £323 on the two-year contract.

The 16GB version can be had for free on a two-year, £60 a month contract.

The Apple iPhone 4 will also be available on business contracts, starting from £100 for the 16GB version and £172 for the 32GB version.

Looks like no O2 on line availability until the end of July, they are giving the impression that initial supplies are limited.

I wonder if they are cautious that it will sell, given that 4 can be installed on 3 phones?  It's quite dear just to get a new chassis.

May be but International sellers are saying there is more interest in Iphone 4 than the previous 3Gs. It's selling well in the States and no Apple Store pre orders here now before the 14th July.I'll be interested to see how the 3Gs copes with IOS 4 , the new phone is claimed to have twice the memory @512mb. iMovie will not be available on the 3Gs

It is far more than a new chassis double the memory and a new CPU camera display etc, mine should be with me on the 24th with the new microsim after talking to O2's Customer complaints department, as most people had no idea what a microsim was, and they worked for O2, that carrier has really gone downhill  :shake: really glad i did not loose my unlimited data by upgrading through O2.

Although I do give a clap of thanks to Apple for making the phone at a reasonable price (with hopefully the same quality?  ;)) it's still a lot to pay for 16GB. You can get a 16GB card for pennies these days, and it's hot swappable. That's a big missing feature.  :dunno:
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Niall

I got an itunes update today, for support with the new phone.

IOS 4 should be available for download this evening in the UK providing the servers can cope :fingers:

Last years v3 was released at 1PM eastern time, so I think that's 6PM GMT or 7PM BST if I've worked it out correctly.

It's 6, Steve. Eastern is -5, Central -6, Mountain -7 and Pacific -8, iirc. Hawaii is a further hour behind Pacific.

They are usually fairly close to us on DST dates, so most of the time the -5 to -8 works, but not for Arizona, who don't use DST.

Even more annoyingly, they are all things people have been complaining about for ages, but it seems Apple refuse to do anything about them.

I think you should just stick with Blackberry Simon, I don't find the niggles you have with the iPhone to be an issue, but we have different usage, all we need to do is find you another gadget to get  ;D

I passed the queue at O2 in Peterborough this morning and thought I'm not joining that, life's too short. :eek4:

Negatives seem to be antennae and yellow screen issues. Positive is much improved battery life

If mine has any issue it goes back and I'll stick with my 3Gs and maybe try the Nokia N8 later this year, not jumping through hoops with Apple again. Not all phones iPhone 4's exhibit the problem so who knows. The HTC EVO had issues with the screen as well, something about glue giving way, things just are not built so well these days.
Damned, if you do damned if you don't

Steve

Personally I'm more worried about the antenna issue as when at work my signal can be very borderline and I wonder how else your supposed to hold the phone except by the edge bezel.

See this Steve http://www.maccast.com/2010/06/23/iphone-4-antenna-issue-on-a-3gs/ my 3GS has always done the same thing but holds calls

Sometimes at work I'll just loose the signal completely even if I then put the phone down it takes a few minutes to recover.

I'll give you a rundown on how good or bad mine is today when it arrives, no idea what time, if its the same as my 3GS no worries if its bad or has screen issues refund time and back to the 3GS and probably a Nokia later this year, they always had great signal quality.

I feel for you having to walk around Peterborough Steve...
Yellow screens? I've heard the screen is suppose to be superb. If the colour is wrong though, it spoils it. Is it really yellow though? Looking at my screen right now, I could argue it's "yellowish". But then so is sunlight.  ;D
