Morning all.

Well my connection has been going fine recently, but thursday i had no throughput and low noise margin compared to wednesday when it was flying.

QuoteTest1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 5500 kbps
    DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)  6368 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 0 kbps

So this morning i made sure all the cables was pushed into the filter correctly and that the filter itself was pushed in correctly. Went back and tested my speed with BT's site and my throughput was back to over 5000+ and my noise margin came back up to its usual.

I picked up the phone to makesure that was working and it was, but sounded very hissy, Like there was alot of noise on the line. Could all these problems be caused by a dodgy filter?

unplug the filter and just plug the phone in, then listen... then try the same with just the router in the socket and hope you dont get a phone call for a fwe minutes.. if they both work ok, then a faulty ilter could be it..

The noise you describe does sound like a filter failing to separate properly the phone and ADSL signals.

Many people report that filters from adslnation.com are the most reliable.

Lance

Sounds like a dodgy filter to me, cettainly try replacing it beofre doing anything else.

I ordered some XF-1e filters from adslnation yesterday and they arrived this morning, replaced my old filter and so far, everything is ok.. Margin is stable but will see tonight, with my old filter my margin only dropped around 3db in the evenings.

Also the phone is very clear now!

It certainly sounds (sorry, pun - for once - not intended!) like you've found your problem. Toes crossed for later.
