I have the strangest problem, I am unable to access the apple web site! www.apple.com i know this sounds odd, but its true, the site just constantly tries to load but never does, I have tried different DNS servers (OpenDNS) plus the IDNet ones and its still the same.  I can ping the site OK, it just will not load, this has been the case for weeks now, any ideas?

Does it work from another PC/Mac?

Thanks for the speedy replies, your questions have made me kind of solve the problem, i was thinking that it must be IDNet causing the issue, but its not, as I can access the site fine from my iPhone/iPad and also from a VM machine, but not from my main PC, i think it must be something to do with my firewall or something, im using Kaspersky.  Thanks once again for your replies.

Rik

Try turning off your firewall.

Tried that, no luck im afraid, very odd

Try from safe mode with networking.

Turning Kaspersky off does not remove all the protection, you need to start the PC without Kaspersky loading.

I used to get the exact same problem. I couldn't access the site if I let my Draytek Vigor 100 > Linksys WRT54G allocate the DNS automatically, however if I entered the DNS addresses into my router manually, that solved the issue.

But as you have already tried the DNS side of things I'm not sure what the issue could be. Incidentally I too was using Kaspersky, so I may have done something with that as well at the time.

You could try via a proxy like http://www.hidemyass.com/  , if that allows you access then you will probably find that your IP is banned from the site.

MisterW

Could it possibly be the MTU setting on the PC ?

Steve

A bit like the issue with the 2700 you solved recently :thumb:
