I recently "upgraded" to ADSL2+ and after over 2 weeks my download speed had finally dropped to around 2450kbps  which was about 1000 less than I was getting before on ADSL. I have now been switched to WBC ADSL Max which initially has given me about 100kbps more. Does this connection have a training period?

A second question, is it a fact that in time all ADSL connections will be moved to ADSL2+ by all providers so that any strategy to get back to ADSL with IDNet may only be a short term solution.

I have a Netgear DG834Gv3 connected by Ethernet cable with ADSLnation filtered master and extension boxes fitted earlier this year. Tests this year with the router in the test socket indicated no internal problems and using a 2wire 2700 also showed no difference. Noise margin 12dB, sync currently 4032, atten. 51dB.

The adsl2+ connection does have a training period.

Yes in time all connections will be on adsl2+ hardware and once a connection has moved its moved for good. What can be done, which has happened to you, the line can be made to behave like an old adsl max line.

If you post your router stats we'll happily take a look at them.

Thanks Lance for that, I will wait for 10 days which I assume is the usual training period and if things have not improved post latest stats
