Hey all

I'm looking for an application, mainly for my elderly uncle who wants to basically, choose some pictures, maybe some videos, add some music and transitions and make a funky slideshow and burn it to disk.

All the open source/free ones iv got him to try either dont work how we want or are too complicated.

So now we don't even mind buying software as long as it does the job. Ideas?

I use Windows DVD maker, had it for Vista, now in Win7 and it's free.

Yup, I've used Windows Movie Maker / DVD maker for the first time last month.  Dead easy.

Nero Vision Express does all that for me - it was bundled with an OEM DVD/CD-R drive that cost £16.00.

Drive is long dead but the bundled Nero software is still working a treat.

I used Nero OEM a long time back and ended up having to do reg edits to get my system working again as Nero changes settings without telling you. Rik will remember the problems, he had the registry settings required to recover the system. I hope Nero have stopped doing that now.

I'm using version 6.6 and haven't experienced anything like that, although the later versions I tried were so bloated I reverted back to v6.
