I have to say this, I am finding your constant Apple bashing to be really annoying, your opinion is quite clear that's fine as I have said before, but as an Apple user I am finding your constant digs to be really annoying, as I said before we try not to have OS wars here, I dont post the myriad of anti Microsoft stuff out there, so laying off the tiresome and repeated troll like behaviour would be appreciated please. There is good and bad in Microsoft and in Apple and in Google and in almost every large corporation  but petty digs for the sake of it are not needed here IMHO.

The forum has had in the past a case where a  bit of Microsoft and Apple bashing occurred, it was decided it was best to leave platform wars out of things, we all make our choices, since then that died down, but you have posted quite a few Apple bashing posts, now I like Apple gear, I dont like Steve Jobs, I also have Microsoft gear and cant stand Steve Balmer but I dont post stuff like this because its not really funny as I see it nor is it constructive in any way, but it is just annoying when I thought all this had ended months ago.

  If you have a dislike for Apple fine, but bashing another users choice for fun (this is how I see it) is not really a great thing to do, If I started bashing MS I would soon find people would get fed up of it, or if I started on at HTC (great phones) or Samsung the result would be the same, we have heard it all before and seen it on other forums, it would just be nice if we could move on from this now and forget about it.

True but I have to say after a few comments made this week, I wonder about the humour now, I maybe would not have picked up on this post if they had not been made  who knows, but its not that important in the great scheme of life, maybe I'm just tired of the same old rhetoric, even from myself. Apple Reports Third Quarter Results

All-Time Record Revenue
Earnings Increase 78 Percent

CUPERTINO, California—July 20, 2010—Apple® today announced financial results for its fiscal 2010 third quarter ended June 26, 2010. The Company posted record revenue of $15.7 billion and net quarterly profit of $3.25 billion, or $3.51 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $9.73 billion and net quarterly profit of $1.83 billion, or $2.01 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 39.1 percent compared to 40.9 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 52 percent of the quarter's revenue.

Apple sold 3.47 million Macs during the quarter, representing a new quarterly record and a 33 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 8.4 million iPhones in the quarter, representing 61 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 9.41 million iPods during the quarter, representing an eight percent unit decline from the year-ago quarter. The Company began selling iPads during the quarter, with total sales of 3.27 million.

"It was a phenomenal quarter that exceeded our expectations all around, including the most successful product launch in Apple's history with iPhone 4," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "iPad is off to a terrific start, more people are buying Macs than ever before, and we have amazing new products still to come this year."

"We're really pleased to have generated over $4 billion of cash during the quarter," said Peter Oppenheimer, Apple's CFO. "Looking ahead to the fourth fiscal quarter of 2010, we expect revenue of about $18 billion and we expect diluted earnings per share of about $3.44"

Analyst Yair Reiner has reduced his projected iPhone sales for the next quarter to 8.5 million, down from 11 million, citing well publicized signal drops that can be replicated  with the iPhone 4 in weak signal areas. He expects others on Wall Street, which average predictions between 11 million and 11.5 million, will also reduce their estimates.

"We worry that the wave of negative publicity surrounding the new iPhone's wireless reception will continue to pressure AAPL's shares and potentially impact sales," Reiner wrote. "We believe the iPhone 4's antenna problem is comparable to that of other smartphones, but in the court of public opinion, perception is reality. And the perception -- created by a scoop-hungry media and Apple's newly emboldened wireless adversaries -- is that the 4 is faulty."

Some people on the Vodafone forums have issues with the handset as well, oddly I bet it wont get the same massive media hype, maybe if they called it the Samsung Cherry it would be more the low picking fruit we have seen recently

And a great closed platform it is, I mean OSX is so closed I cant even run Flash on it let alone another browser like Firefox or Opera or Chrome, god for bid I need Microsoft office

Its still early  Had a look at the HD2 the other day, nice looking handset, I just sadly dont like Windows mobile, needing an AV on your phone is a pain great features and it looks good too, may buy a HTC Desire and have a play not interested in the Samsung galaxy its horrible even though its got the better screen saying that Android I belive is susceptible to virus attack as well ill just down load one if needed, the Dell Streak is just way to big, its like  a mini tablet.

I agree, WM is outdated now, but I have to say, using the phone day to day, you don't ever see it, because the HTC Sense overlay is what you use.  It's only when you drill down to the core settings that you have to work with WM, and I don't actually find it that bad.   I like the fact that it's so customisable, and the screen is lovely.

I dont like all those sub menus in winmo. I find IE  a clumsy browser, even though you can use others of course, but I agree with you on the other points, customisation is good, but it depends on what you need, the Desire has the customisable home screen, but I dont really need much more than time date and have I got a signal I certainly dont need facebook updates from my firiends  I open the phone up to get to business, I'll try the HTC out but battery life is a concern with that handset it seems. They need to work on better power cells, or optimisation, which of course may come with Android updates, its just does the Desire get the gingerbread update, or is that a new phone again, and HTC's sense UI will delay any update somewhat anyway compared to the vanilla Nexus one.

Android is a bit of an unknown OS for me. Also the apps are not at this time going to attract the quality of some of the better iPhone apps as the money is not there right now, and can I do without those apps is another question I need to ask, also the ease of use with iTunes will vanish also how will it compare to the iPhone 4's gorgeous screen, that really is quite something. Anyway if you don't try you don't know, much to Justina's annoyance

Opera Mobile is the default browser on the HD2, and I've found it to be much better than IE, which you have to go looking for if you want to use it. 

I'll try the HTC out but battery life is a concern with that handset it seems.

I use mine a lot, and am on it most of the morning, as can be seen from my posts on here.  I do have to charge it every night, and usually stick it on the desktop charger in the evenings, but only on very rare occasions has it not lasted the day.  I think, with average use, it would easily last more than a day, or maybe two.

Anyway if you don't try you don't know, much to Justina's annoyance

I think availability is improving this week, I could have done a swap this week without any hassle. The early rush is possibly over. The odd thing was I went into O2 and had a chat about my 3Gs and the new 4 in the end I was advised to leave it till next year which surprised me.

Gary, talking of customisation, the two images below are of the default HD2 Home screen, and a screenshot of my own Home screen (the one with the Pals / Netters icons).  I believe the Desire has no less than seven customisable home screens, but I'm not sure just how customisable they are.
