Anyone running really slow today? I just had a speedtest just over 1mb for my line that is usually running at 6mb.

Speed Down     1087.70 Kbps ( 1.1 Mbps )
Speed Up    372.52 Kbps ( 0.4 Mbps )

I'm running at half to two-thirds my normal throughput. The same thing happened at half-term, so I'm betting that school holidays are to blame. There are no IDNet network issues being reported on the status page.

The question is, do we ban kids, or ban school holidays? :)

I'd ban the holidays!

I have been seeing terrible pings and wildly varying speeds for the past three days.

Having just spoken to Miriam at CS she has found that there is a line/exchange problem so it is over to BT.

My synch is 448/8096 and speeds are usually @ 6000k+, at present upload exceeds download :(

It would have a faster impact. :)

Are you seeing much effect, Lance? Some seem to be getting off unscathed over on TB.

Joy. :( Still, at least with Miriam on the case, you know she'll push them as hard as she can, Dorset.

Now I'm at home... Pings are normal for me, although some pages seem to take a split second longer to load!

I did mask it out! My office seat is right next to a floor to ceiling window (I'm on the first floor), so I can see the nice weather for myself!!!

Have you run a speedtest? I was really bumping along at about 50% earlier, it's pretty much back to normal now.

You're forgiven then. :)

Shame they won't put the desk next to the chair though. :) :out:

Speedtest is a little down, but not by much at all, could just be because its getting towards peak time.

Lance

I've just done a few different speed tests and I'm getting pretty much bang on what I would expect!

Personally, I think it is a great idea! Prehaps use the extra time to accelerate the entire school process, so that kids can go out to work at the age of 14 and earn the govenment lots extra in taxs. Then public sector workers (which means me!) can have bigger pay rises!!!!!

You may, of course, be predicting the future, Lance. With an ageing population and a pensions deficit, it's the sort of thing which might just come to pass.

Mine has been slow for the past 2 days, usually runs between 5.5 and 6.5 meg but yesterday my download was slower than my upload at about 500k  :o (upload remained at 700k). Today it is a bit better running at 1.5 to 2meg. Make the kids work 24/7, that would sort the problem  ;)

The good news was that lastnight when I needed it my speed was back at 6meg  ;D

My test from earlier, a bit slower than normal, but still very acceptable. ;)

I have just done this speed test and to be honest I do not really find it acceptable for the package I am on but I don't suppose there is a lot I can do about it. I contacted support yesterday when I was down to 500k with some speed test results but my email is down at the minute  :( so I do not know what there reply was.

Rik

Give them a buzz, Captain. As far as I can see, from this board and ThinkBroadband, some people are experiencing speed issues and others are not. Milton Keynes has a young population, so I always see problems during school holidays. :(

I called them yesterday Rik and they just told me to email them three speedtests over 30 mins, which I did. I have just checked my email and they have not replied yet  :(. I will probably give them a call Wednesday if I do not hear anything.

Rik

I know Miriam went home early today, so that may have affected things.
