IE8 will remaion stable on my pc until I try to open www..goodmoves.org.uk . then it hangs and I have to task manager it. Safari and firefox open it just fine. I've had a look to see what addons are runnig and nothing out of the ordinary. i've scanned for viruses and it's clean. reinstalled it.  :po:

anyone got any ideas?
If you truly believe you need to pick a mobile phone that 'says something' about your personality, don't bother. You don't have a personality. A mental illness, maybe - but not a personality

I'm using IE8 and it works fine for me  :dunno:

You have too many dots after www

Cut & paste from your post into IE8 fails, delete a dot and it loads perfectly

FF and Safari autocorrect such errors

I suspect coreservers problem may be more complex than that simple solution  ;D

the two dots is a typo.

Working just fine in IE8

Try clearing your Temporary Internet Files.

Very slow with IE8, ok with Firefox!

I wonder if some of the differences in browser speeds are dependent on the configuration and/or other external factors. Because people often say that Firefox is quicker I decided to do some timing tests with http://www.goodmoves.org.uk/.

I installed Firefox 3.5.4 and opened the website several times in this and IE8 (clearing the cache before each time I opened it) In IE8 it took between 10 and 30 seconds to open it but with Firefox it was always about 40 seconds.

I also once got a message with Firefox to say that the following add-ons are known to cause stability or security problems : 'Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.170.4' and 'MetaStream 3 Plugin 3.2.2.26'.

If I didn't delete the Cache then they both took about 2 seconds.

(I know there's a later version of FF available but I used 3.5.4 as I already had the install executable downloaded from when I tried FF before)

Although I use FF for most of my browsing and certainly for any stuff that requires high security such as banking I do find that IE has the edge in rendering speed and multimedia performance.
