Unfortunately it's no longer working for me either on Windows 7.

I use OS X and the dashboard widget is not working either

Thanks Steve  ;D

I've lurked about here (that's how I found the gadget) but haven't posted before.

Just to clarify, my gadgets stopped working sometime today (5th Oct) and I'm not sure when the website was updated, maybe earlier this week  :-\ so they may not be connected.

The new website went live today.

Ah, OK, thanks  ;)

That seems to be a good reason for why it has stopped working today.

Hi all,

It does indeed seem as though the data source for the widget/gadget has been broken by the recent website update. I've enquired into a fix and if/when it becomes available I will endeavour to update both Windows 7 Gadget and Android Widget ASAP if required.

As for making the source available for the android widget, I'd have to check with IDNet to ensure they're happy with it being made public.

Thanks for your patience

Hopefully you can cover the new non peak rated packages, if that makes sense too!

I was really just interested in the code that presents the animated circle when the widget is retrieving the data. I tried to make that happen on a widget of my own earlier in the year and couldn't find a way to do it.

Mine seem to be working again now. Maybe IDNet has re-enabled the links that were used before as everything seems to be happy now on both PC's and my Android phone.

It does indeed look like IDNet have fixed the script.

Excellent; it's back working for me too! Thanks!!
Interesting background on the widget!

It's supposed to look like the attached.

Technical Ben

If you want a background that looks like the new site, I could give it a go. Am handy with a pixel spray gun. ;)
I use to have a signature, then it all changed to chip and pin.

Here's the background I use in the widget.. it fits the style of the others I have :)

Any chance of an update to the windows widget and android app to show just one allowance bar for the new packages (which are not on/off peak). Also do gadgets still exist in Win8 i am guessing not but I've not used it a lot? Still wondering whether to but it whilst its cheap for £25

tKe

Unfortunately I can't look into updating the android widget for some time as the source code is on an IDE disk and my recent upgrade doesn't have any IDE ports. Will have to get an adapter at some point.

I'll have a look at updating the Win7 gadget when I have the chance. Can someone let me know if their usage comes back as only peak or offpeak? Unfortunately I'm unable to test this myself as I'm still on (and will be sticking to) a dual-tariff account.

If I do support single-tariff, would it be preferable to reduce the height of the gadget (for both android/win7) or increase the height of the single progress bar?

ChrisB

Thanks for a great little Gadget tKe.

Just installed the W7 version, it's working well.

Thanks,

Chris

Just to update you all, I've just moved to a new property and unfortunately was unable to keep my dual-tariff account. I'll be starting a new single-tariff account when BT Openreach get around to installing my phone line on the new property in the second half of January. Once I'm back up and running on IDNet I'll look into updating the widgets to support single-tariff accounts.

I just downloaded it, but of course I got the dual-tariff version and I'm on single-tariff.  Did the single-tariff version ever make it?

tKe

It depends which you're after - Windows gadget or Android widget?

Unfortunately the Android widget it didn't make it. The IDE hard disk it was stored on unfortunately didn't make it through the move. I've started from scratch but it's been a while since I did some android development and time is tight so don't expect it soon.

If it was the windows gadget you're after I do have a tweaked version I've been using. It's the same layout as the dual-tarrif but the top text says how much has been used, the bottom text how much is remaining and both bars are usage (middle bar still month progress).

You should be able to get the tweaked version of the Windows Gadget here.

There are workarounds to get sidebar gadgets working in windows 8 but they're supposedly replaced with Live Tiles. I'd certainly be interested in porting the gadget to Live Tiles but I was waiting on Windows 8.1 before thinking of upgrading. I might find some time to play with a Windows 8 VM at work at some point though :)

Seems I managed to find some spare time over the weekend.

Its a separate app install to the old one (which I'll retire from the play store soon). You'll need to re-add the widget to your home screen as before but it now has the ability to grab the api key from the IDnet portal for you.

It should support previous versions of android but I've only had time to test it on 4.2.1 and 4.3. If you have any problems or have any suggestions feel free to post them here.

The source is backed up this time and may well be opened up should I have time to tidy it up a bit (and the OK from idnet).

I've just noticed a couple of bugs that I'm in the process of squashing now.

One you'll probably never notice: if you have more than one widget on your homescreen the configuration button (the cog) will take you to the configuration page for the last refreshed widget. The work around is to refresh the one you want to configure first before tapping the cog.

The other is probably a little more noticeable - I seem to have inadvertently added the usage for the current day twice...

I'll update this post when I've uploaded the fix to the play store (the windows 7 gadget is unaffected)

tKe

Update has been pushed to the play store. It'll take a few hours to get through to your devices (all 2 of you that have the new version :)x)
