IMMUNET PROTECT

QuoteThe Immunet Community has over 448,810 members protected from 14,437,982 threats.

A cloud based antivirus system that detects and blocks threats to your system and one which can be run with other AV's/Suites etc as it is not running on your machine.

I have been running it for a few hours now and see no performance loss at machine or internet level. CNet rate this highly and many people using free AV's are using this as an extra layer of protection. Any application trying to install from the net can be blocked till it is checked for saftey, the delay is barely noticeable, but could be the difference between a drive by download executing or being rejected.

There is a paid version with more features, the price looks more than reasonable.

Cheers Dorset will give this a whirl when I get home.

No, it is a different concept.

Have installed, joined and am running a scan and already it has picked up W32.Dropper in a temp folder and quarantined it.

I note it has two engines which should help but will be interesting to see how much it communicates with its servers.

Glenn

I installed it, filled out my email address, 4 hrs later, I'm still waiting for the activation email from them.

Got mine almost instantly.

Using netstat to monitor the connections out it looks like its running on Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud Platform so I personally don't think its going to survive for long as the more users it gets the more their costs will increase.

You don't need to register to use it, it's just more effective if everyone joins the community. My activation mail was instant, I also got an email from the creator asking for a review and how I found Immunet.

Having run it now on 3 machines for @30 hours I can find no issues, there is a definite lag on your browser when running a scan, but that is to be expected as it is an online scanner.

There is a forum for support/information/suggestions and a large Facebook group which is very active.  My numpty neighbour and his lady have yet again infected their machines and his works laptop ...... the onboard AV's cold not clear the problems,so much for AVG and Norton, Immunet has cleaned them in one pass which is encouraging.

Given that nigh on 500,000 people are running it at most times of day it must be doing a reasonable job.

I tried it but did not like it as it was using up my now lower download cap when doing a full scan. I will stick to my Norton 2010 Internet Security.

pctech

Ran a full scan but have not yet checked my bandwidth use.

DorsetBoy

Bandwidth use on a scan is tiny, and I would not see the need to run a full scan that often anyway as this system checks your connection in real time and is an add on to your Norton/Eset/AVG etc.

pctech

I have to say I am impressed so far.

 :grn:

I have to say I'm finding a bit of 'boot lag' though (probably while it connects and exchanges data with the cloud) but I suspect thats because I'm using a relatively slow CPU and my connection is only about 450k up at the minute.

I'm trying to save up for a new system and will probably look in January now.

I gave this the boot as it was effectively hanging my machine for 5 minutes while it connected.

I've not seen that on my MC, Mitch, I don't even notice that it's running.

I have an elderly Windows install that is crying out for a reformat so I'll try it again once I've done that.

Nor any of mine. I have got it on 3 machines, my neighbour on 2 PC's and laptop,4 other family members and 3 friends are trying it and no one has an issue.

There is a "support" button and a user forum for help advice.....
