oh the joys just got in from work and now i don't have an internet connection

just what what you need on a friday and support is shut

oh i have a sync but no internet and the 2 wire has a nice red light next to the internet thing

Rik

Can you try a spare router, Colin. Failing which, power off the router for 30 minutes in case you've got a stale session, then connect to the test socket when you re-power. If that doesn't work, email or phone support, making it clear you have no connection.

woo hooo

i now have an internet connection but to get it i had to manually enter my IP address and DNS server details as my router is refusing along with dannis to pick up the information.

so has anyone got any ideas

Niall

Oddly enough, my connection dropped after reading this thread at about 10 tonight. It came back within a minute, with no obvious problems and all still seems well.

I really am starting to think BT get drunk at the weekends and randomly flick switches. When I last had problems it was them drinking I tell ya! ;D

What do i do ???

Rik

Are you dropping sync or losing PPP (remaining in sync but unable to access the web)?

How do i tell the difference?

Also whistle 1 computer would drop, the others stay on.

Rik

If only one machine is dropping, it's a problem between that machine and the router. Are you connected via cable or wireless, what OS, what are the other OS and connection types.

2 wired W7 machines, 1 wireless Vista laptop. Had this set up for months, no problems. (expect i had to set them all static IPs to stop em from stealing IPs from each other)

Laptop and one of the w7 machines.

Rik

So, one is working, two are not? It's not wireless as both types of connection are affected. What's the router?
