I'm joking of course.

That looks very interesting, am a bit of a fan of racing sims.

Would those be fast moving mobile phones? ;D :out:

That looks like the router was turned off, or possibly a loss of connection but I can't see any complaints :P

Another thought- Zappa forgot to enable ping responses from the WAN when he created the monitor ;D

The rest doesn't look too good... seems as though something on the PC is keeping the router busy, but I've no idea what it might be or where to look. Does (his version of) Windows have a process monitor? Might be a bit of "unauthorised" software.

When I saw the red slab of doom I did indeed have to go hunting through my router settings to enable ping responses  ;D

My PC is lock up tighter than a duck's rectum so I'm fairly confident I'm not contributing to a botnet or a similar nasty. In fact this PC has exhibited the same behaviour from day one which is why I've always been sold on the idea of a defective motherboard.

It looks like the time is about right to build a new and extraordinary fast and feature rich PC which is a great shame (It's OK, she that must be obeyed is currently not looking over my shoulder ).

I'm using a Netgear DG834Gv5 Bill. To be honest I don't really rate them, I've had 3 and they have all had differing issues.

Do your router logs show a lot of activity Zap?

My daughter's laptop creates a lot of [UPnP set event: Public_UPNP_C3] entries when it's switch on but other than that, nothing but me logging in.

I've never been a fan of Netgear either, but haven't seen that problem reported before. Odd.

Might it be worth trying to have the PC switched on, but Windows not running? eg in sleep mode or leaving it at the login prompt, maybe.

If the graph looks then OK it's Windows, if it stays the same it's hardware. Probably :P

If what Bill says indicates a router problem might be worth a factory reset in case Gizmo and co have crept into the firmware.

I've seen Netgear firmware do some really strange stuff.

Here's mine. The half hour dropout this morning was because I had my DIY hat on and fused the whole house!

Nasty. This is the state of my connection from a few days ago. I've just opened up the new router to allow ICMP pings so we'll see what changes there are now I'm on FTTC.

There virtually no increases in latency at all. :thumb:

Bill

There are some increases when you're shifting a lot of traffic, BQM pings went up to about 80mSec when I was uploading all those pics to the gallery (~8Mbps).

I haven't done a really hefty download yet to see what happens, but I'm sure I will soon ;D
