The next version of Firefox will be "faster than anyone else," according to Mozilla's head of web development.

Firefox 4 is due out later this year, but faces stiff competition from Google Chrome 6 and Internet Explorer 9.

Chris Blizzard admitted Firefox isn't currently topping the various speed benchmarks, but said the browser will when all of its new features are included.

Does anyone care a flying phart about the nanoseconds it takes to load a webpage?

I'm doubtful because broadband connection speed and performance are the only things most people even think about.

Firefox is my browser of choice but I cringe when someone boasts that it's faster and better than other browsers.

It's just another browser that some people like and others don't.

Hey ho.

Exactly so, security ,stabilty and reliability are far more important. Browser developers rush to have the fastest, best, sexiest .... whatever then everytime without fail there is a major flaw or exploit found.

Speed also depends entirely on the machine the browser is used on and what other software is in use, for many FireFox with Eset products and Win7 is a disaster...... others for whatever reason do not have the problem.

Another vote for stability and security. I can wait half a second for a web page to display.

Odd, that, given you can usually post two or three replies in that time.
