What's people's speeds like since the changeover? I'm down about half a megabit on average speedtests but I don't know if that's within standard fluctuation levels really; I very rarely turn off the network stuff. (Yes, I did change the router around the same time but *not* the ADSL modem).

Can't say I've seen any difference here. I've got some anomalies when using the tbb tester, but they were there before the upgrade as well ???

TBB tester is crazy. I get under 5 Mbit on that. Speedtest.net shows me at 6.2 Mbit which is hardly terrible, it just used to be more that was all.

Edit: speedtest.net history shows I am down 0.8 Mbit actually

Speedtest.net will give you artificially high readings because of the way it processes the figures before giving you the answer, personally I don't trust it.

The best way to check a speedtester is to find a decent sized file somewhere and time how long it takes to download it. That's basically what the tbb tester does, I suspect that it's actually the more accurate one- it always was for me when I was on ADSLx.

(Off topic... I think my tbb oddities may be concerned with routing (peering?) on fast connections, they had something similar with Virgin cable connections a while ago. It either agrees with the BT speedtester (at about 35Mbps) or is about 6Mbps slower, with no obvious rhyme or reason. And as the BT figures agree with what I get from downloads elsewhere (eg iTunes), they're the ones I believe!)

TBB is definitely wrong. 4.9Mbits is something like 630KB/s and I know I get over 700KB/s, it's just I used to get over 800KB/s. The BT speedtester agrees with speedtest.net anyway.

Which just goes to demonstrate the variations we all see. FWIW, with a slow speed line, most speedtesters seem to agree for me.

I don't speedtest very often because I'm so happy with things, I just get paranoid when things change :)

It's likely within fluctuation levels and I just don't realise it... I'm not a massive downloader in reality. I upload more quite often!
