Router Stats instability

Recently, when using router stats, I've found that using it for a long period of time while leaving the computer unattended causes it eat up all of the available processing (ie CPU showing 99% against routerstats.exe in task manager). I don't think its specific to my windows installation as recently I did a format / reinstall and was having the problems prior to that.

If I end the process, using task manager, another process then takes responsibilty for hogging the resources. Often, I will have to pull the power to restart the machine as windows is so unresponsive.

I was just wondering if anyone else was having similar problems with the program?

I've never had a problem with RS, Lance. I just sat and watched task manager before replying, as RS gets its reading from the router, activity flips to 2% briefly, then back.

I wonder if RS is having problems talking to your router, and that's causing the issue? Wild guess but it's the only thing I can think of.

OTOH, if killing RS leads to another process grabbing the CPU, it might be worth doing a full NOD in-depth scan and a malware scan to follow up... :(

What happens is that RS will happily go about it's business for a number of hours, and then suddenly this problem develops.

I'll do the full scans, once Acronis (which I'm giving another go and I seem to be getting along with better now) has finished my drive imaging...

Happy hunting, Lance. Fwiw, I've got Routerstats running on a P4D dual core, and also a Core2 Duo on my lappy (can't remember the number off hand). It's also previously run on a P4 HT. I have 47 processes running on this machine at the moment.

You are not alone Lance.

I have been trying Router Stats and it certainly has its problems.
I wanted to leave it running all night to get a full picture of my line over 24 hours,it simply will not do this,I have read the manual and tried various settings to no avail.

3 nights in a row it got to 00.41Hrs and froze up,the router is functioning correctly and shows no drop in synch or LCP
but there is no graph or log from RS and I cannot get it to close and restart unless I reboot my PC.

I have also found it does not always capture the graphs when you use "capture now".
It is as impressive as a Netgear router ::) ::) :crazy:

I'm glad it's not just me then! Sounds like we have the same problem, although I can't say whether it happens at the same time for me every time or not (I don't think it does). I think for me it just happens after its run for a few hours, which suggests a bug in the programming somewhere. Hopefully there will be an update soon which helps iron out these problems.
