Okay, so i was looking around at my wiring from my pc to my socket, and noticed that when i open up my faceplate, i have this : http://www.dslzoneuk.net/images/socket/step4new.gif

HOWEVER, i see NO wires connected from the back of the faceplate into my master BT socket. I can also see a few endless wires at the master BT socket, and they look fairly damaged.
Will this come and bite me in the ass later on?

My current ISP seems to have no trouble with this, and i can still use my internet. However, i can't connect using IDnet.

Would i have to buy a new faceplate (if possible) because currently, this faceplate looks very old.

Thanks in advance. :D

Providing your current ISP works it should be fine. The pictured faceplate looks like a NTE5 so it can't be all that old; I have a much older linebox that still works (although, not very well). If you have any problems you should contact BT as they are the ones that would have to replace the master socket.

BT may replace it for free or charge any random amount; my recent quote on a NTE5 ranged from £0 to £190 even though I had a price list stating £30, needless to say I just give up and am living with the old socket.

Ah right. Well i'm only curious about it because IDnet seems to have some trouble with my connection, so i'm trying to find every little snag that might cause it.
I'll see if they give me a call, and tell them about it, and BT if needed.
Thanks :D

Hi Slyder
If you want to read up a bit about wiring there is a Help sticky which may be of interest:

Hi Slyder

This comment caught my eye. Have you been migrated or are you still waiting? BT use something called selective service barring (SSB), which usually means you can't connect to two different ISPs on the same line. If you are still able to connect to your old ISP, I would expect that you could not connect to IDNet.
