Speed Tests

Can someone explain why speedtest.net and the Thinkbroadband speetest always give me completely different results and which is the more accurate?

The tbb speedtester simply transfers a known number of bytes and measures how long it takes. Speedtest.net does some processing before it gives the result (see here for details).

Which is more accurate? Depends... I think the speedtest.net will give you a good idea of what your connection is capable of, the tbb one tells you what it's actually doing at the time of the test.

TBB have revamped their speedtester a bit recently. It's supposed to be cosmetic changes only, but it looks like the odd gremlin may have crept in...
